A Montana county declared the wrong winner in a race after overcounting votes.
During a post-canvassing audit of the Butte-Silver Bow County primary that was held in June, election officials suspected an overcount of more than 1,000 ballots, prompting a judge to order a recount. The recount discovered that 1,131 more votes were counted than voters who voted. Data shows a very similar number of votes in each precinct was overcounted.
Election officials are not entirely sure what happened, though Butte-Silver Bow County Clerk and Recorder Linda Sajor-Joyce told leaders she believes the extra ballots were from sample data that had not been cleared from the software by Election Day, according to KTVH. In total, Sajor-Joyce could not explain 11 of the overcounted votes, according to NBC Montana.
As a result of the discrepancy, officials declared the wrong winner in a Republican precinct committeeman race and declared the wrong candidate to be the frontrunner in the race for county attorney general.

There is no widespread election fraud.
There is not sufficient election fraud to change the results of an election.

Is this Ruby and her daughter?
Western Montana was always overrun with communists since the mines imported shanty Irish and and poor Scottish in the 1890’s through 1910’s.
Good old Butte.
Their motto is,
“Vote early and vote often!”
Honestly counted votes in an honestly held election?
Good joke but let’s go back to being serious.
A handful of precincts in the City of Detroit had zero, not “a few” or “not many”——zero——votes for Trump.
Other places had more Dem votes than the total number of people living in them.
As in Chicago, after being certified there were voters proven to have already died before the election. Denial of a ballot is considered Jim Crow voter suppression against civil rights, so officials count the votes and do not have time or staffing to check the validity of the registrations after the election. And the rabidly Dem AG would not allow it anyway.
Detroit votes are always finished being counted days after the rural counties where ballot places are miles and miles from each other between farmland and woods. You’d think it would be the opposite.
“But Republicans who have proposed methods to reconcile the number of votes counted with the number of voters who voted have run into opposition from Democrats, “
Gee, what a surprise.
“Election officials are not entirely sure what happened”
Isn’t it their job to know exactly what happened ?
If they suspect the sample votes weren’t zeroed out, why don’t they ask the person responsible for ensuring the test data is cleared out ?????
Surely they know who does the pre-election testing. Does the same person do the testing on all the machines statewide ?
Paper ballots, counted by hand with representatives from all parties present during the counting. Shouldn’t be all that hard to figure out how to do.
Philadelphia had more votes than residents in 2020.
Now, it’s “Vote if you want, we’re the ones doing the counting”
Ok, who is getting fired for this?
One of three really, really leftist counties in Montana. How could this happen? /s
Did a lot of Butten’ during my younger years. Mostly brawling.
Ha. Talk about school spirit. Get out the (fraudulent) votes.
I read the article but I did not see the names of the candidates, who ran, who lost and what the parties they were in were. It’d be helpful to know this.
Also are they going to try and fix this by putting in the guy who really won?
Philadelphia has been doing that FOR YEARS...
At least 20 years and probably longer.
It’s WHAT THEY DO.
“…[the county clerk and recorder] believes the extra ballots were from sample data had not been cleared from the software by Election Day”
Heh, heh…oopsie. Trust us, this can’t possibly happen in November.
Imagine if banks hire election officials to run banks……..
This reeks like a four-day-old homicide scene.
