Former President Donald Trump says he would create a government efficiency commission to audit the entire federal government
Trump says he’d create a government efficiency commission led by Elon Musk
PHOENIX (AP) — Former President Donald Trump said Thursday he would create a government efficiency commission to audit the entire federal government, an idea suggested by billionaire Elon Musk, who would lead it.
The commission is the latest attention-grabbing alliance between Trump and Musk, who leads companies including Tesla and SpaceX and has become an increasingly vocal supporter of Trump’s bid to return to the White House.
The Republican presidential nominee claimed that in 2022, “fraud and improper payments alone cost taxpayers an estimated hundreds of billions of dollars.” He said the commission would recommend “drastic reforms” and develop a plan to eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months, which he said would save trillions of dollars.

Algore! Appears we're going to get "Reinventing Government" redux. Because government reform always works so well. /s
It will work well if Trump + Musk do it.
We don’t need reform.
We need to cut the government wide open (without anesthetic), sever its aorta, and let it bleed out 80% of its government RBCs. Meanwhile amputate various appendages (EPA, DoE, other DoE, DHS, BATF, ...) and remove 50% to 75% of other appendages (CIA, state department, IRS).
Then sew the carcass back up and toss it out back to recover... slowly...

Good idea! But as you noted CL, we’ve seen this movie before. To get anything accomplished, you’ve got to get the majority of the Senate and the House on your side.
Unfortunately, that won’t happen. Both of those bodies are dominated by an evil alliance of Democrats and Deep State Republicans.
No matter. Better to go down swinging than not to fight at all.
The most expensive thing in government is the bureaucracies themselves.
And a good 90% of it is filler.
Of course actually doing it is going to be a major task.
I still say that's Robin WIlliams
If he can’t take action against government employees who won’t cooperate with the commission, I don’t see how this can go anywhere.
Lmao..like literally wiping drool from my left chin. Love my FReepers.
Are you a Robin Williams death denier? :-)
The time honored formula has always been waste/fraud/and abuse. Various commissions have been appointed over the years, none have ever returned savings of any significance. But up until now they have always been staffed by fellow politicians so of course, it has been a charade. Musk just might do it differently.
How would that work...how would it have jurisdiction over judicial and legislative branch ?
No but you have to admit Milei in this pic looks just like Robin Williams from Good Morning Vietnam and Mrs. Doubtfire
After your post I did a little web research. Yeah, Millei sort of looks like RW.
Sort of.
Millei is no joker! He’s serious as a heart attack. We would do well to pay close attention.
We need a government EXECUTION committee. I’ll volunteer to build the guillotine
>> I’ll volunteer to build the guillotine
Guillotining would be fun to watch, and the pay-per-view would help defray the national debt.
But the number of (shall we say) “public servants” in need of execution is high. We’ll need something more efficient. I’m thinking transport ships to shark-rich regions of ocean. :-)
I'll get back to you on that as soon as I finish re-writing this pesky "Constitution" thing!
Eliminate the parts not authorized by the Constitution.
But doesn't mean Musk can't write a "How To" book.
Al Gore never did a damn thing...he lost...remember?? And not even considering Florida, if he had won his home state, he would have won the election.
