The regime of Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been able to expand its position as an energy supplier to Europe. The EU now imports more from Russia than from the United States, reports Die Welt.

According to the newspaper, for the first time in almost two years, EU countries imported more gas from Russia than from the United States in one quarter. This is evidenced by the data of the Brussels-based consulting company Bruegel.

According to these data, for the quarter from April to June, the EU purchased 12.7 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia, and 12.3 billion from the United States.

America needs to stop spending any money defending Europe.

Bring the troops home and station them on our own borders.

This all started before Merkel, too. Her predecessor Gerhard Schröder is the main guy here.

This seems odd, still trading with the vile, neo-Hitlarian Russia of Ghengis Putin. I thought the EU was ready and willing to lead the planet to annihilation if necessary to drive back the marauding hordes of Russia from the innocent lands of the noble Ukrainians?

When the Ukrainian propagandists were bragging they damaged something fuel related - I think it was Russian refineries or something, I looked up information and found it would be the EU most impacted. They also bragged that damage in the waterways would critically damage Russia’s capacity to send fuel to its troops. Why would they send fuel by water? Anyway, that waterway is not critical to fuel transportation either.

They just see something go ‘BOOM!’ and declare a major victory.

There is nowhere else to get it.

Qatar and Iran and Australia export gas and all of it already has customers.

Europe tried to do a deal to get gas from Qatar to fill the gap from what they refused to buy from Russia.

Qatar said they already have customers, and they could consider Europe but Europe would have to agree to a multi year contract. Europe refused. When the current crisis ended they would be able to return to being Green.

So Qatar said no.

Maybe, after the last 2 1/2 years of Putin’s failures, they no longer see Russia as a military threat?

Biden gleefully imposed sanctions on Russia bragging they would bring Putin to his knees unable to fund the war. Putin has outmaneuvered Biden and Russia economically is possibly better off financially than any European country..

And who has suffered the most from Biden’s sanctions on Russia - the US Taxpayer - not Russia.

Putin may have outmaneuvered Biden, because Biden is a moron.

But economically, Russia is a basket case.

More evidence that this a phoney war. Maybe an artificial war. Too bad it’s deadly to the civilians of Ukraine.

Just maybe the EU sees the USA as just as bad as Russia when it comes to randomly invading countries. Or not.
