The left-wing Labour Party government in Britain announced Monday that it will be suspending dozens of arms export licences to Israel over concerns of UK weaponry being used to violate human rights in Gaza.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy told the House of Commons that the British government will be suspending 30 of its 350 arms export licences to Israel, including UK-made components used in military drones, helicopters, and aircraft, including fighter jets used by the Israelis.
The move comes after months of protests by left-wing activists and a two-month review conducted by the Foreign Office, The Guardian reports. While the review did not find that British arms exports had contributed to destruction in Gaza, the government found that there was a “clear risk” that they could be used in violations of international humanitarian laws.

The League of Nations decided to provide the Jews their Homeland once more, however, they also promised the same land to the Bedouin peoples living in that same land if they helped to defeat the Ottoman Empire. On my gaming board (Rail Nation), we don’t talk politics but...a player said he’s a teacher in the UK going thru teacher training and is ready for the kids to begin.
I commented that from a distance, some trends in the UK looked troubling. Like I said the focus is not politics but I thought he might offer some insight into what’s happening in the UK.
He replied: “Elon Musk talked crap about UK last month. If anything, UK is on a better track than it has been for the last 10 years - at least we have moderate leadership for a change. The economy isn’t great but I can say the same for many other countries.”
Uh...moderate leadership, yeah. Since we don’t squabble over politics, I just let it go. I get plenty of politics everywhere else.
