PRECIOUS IN HIS SIGHT

Just a children's song remembered from a Sunday School class long ago: "Red and yellow, black and white; they are precious in his sight; Jesus loves the little children of the world." But it expresses a profound truth...one that might change the world if we took it seriously. Sort of like the lesson in the poem a friend sent me yesterday. It's worth more than a second reading. It may reveal ... or remind you... of more truth than you expect!

"We pray for the children who put chocolate fingers everywhere, who like to be tickled, who stomp in mud puddles and ruin their new pants, who sneak Popsicles before supper, who erase holes in their Math workbooks, who can never find their shoes.

"And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire, who've never squeaked across the floor in new sneakers, who never "counted potatoes," who are born in places we wouldn't be caught dead, who never go to the circus, who live in an X rated world.

"We pray for children who bring sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions, who sleep with the dog and bury goldfish, who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money, who cover themselves with Band-Aids and sing off-key, who squeeze toothpaste all over the sink, who slurp their soup.

"And we pray for those who never get dessert, who watch their parents watch them die, who have no safe blanket to drag behind, who can't find any bread to steal, who don't have any rooms to clean up, whose pictures aren't on anyone's dressers, whose monsters are real.

"We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday, who throw tantrums in the grocery store, who pick at their food, who like ghost stories, who shove dirty clothes under the bed and never rinse out the tub, who get visits from the Tooth Fairy, who don't like to be kissed in front of the car pool, who squirm in church and scream on the phone, whose tears we sometimes laugh at, and whose smiles can make us cry.

"And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything, who have never seen a dentist, who aren't spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move but have no being.

"We pray for children who want to be carried, and for those who must; for those we never give up on, and for those who don't get a chance; for those we smother, and for those who will grab the hand of anybody kind enough to offer."

The author is anonymous. The message is timeless. Like the account recorded long ago by an observer who recalled: "At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying, 'Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' Then Jesus called a little child to him... and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest... (And) Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.'" (Matthew. 18:1-5)

It's not just another activity for paid staff. It shapes what we - and our world - are already becoming. Partners, anyone?

Howdy, luvie.

Did everything look fresh and happy today after yesterday’s rain?

We had some rain this afternoon and evening but nothing like you got.

Hey there, radu!

Yes, everything is clean and bright. The kitties are bright-eyed, too. They enjoy lounging on the patio or back sidewalk without burning to a crisp.

Sorry you didn’t get that much rain, but hope there is more for you soon. Even though your lawn....well....will be 6’ high. LOL!

I’m so happy for your kitties. They’ve had a terrible summer. They must feel so much better now with it cooling off. Now to hope the thermostat is through cranking up to ‘furnace’!

I got 7/10 of an inch and that was this afternoon in about 10-minutes’ time. The sprinkles this evening barely registered in the gauge. I just checked.

The nice thing about this afternoon’s rain was it dropped the temp from 92 to 75 in a flash.

Sounds like your afternoon rain was kin to our afternoon rain of yesterday. We haven’t had anything since then, but the kitties are happy and so is hubby. He won’t have to spend hours watering this week. And so am I...the water bill might go down a bit. LOL!

Are the soybeans harvested now? I can’t remember if they were being gathered along with the corn. I’m not crop-oriented. :)

The rain this afternoon was only for about 10 minutes here. A heavy rain storm. It rained all afternoon and into the evening everywhere else, though we got the short time of sprinkles.

Your hubby will be happy he doesn’t have to water the lawn but he’ll grumble when he has to haul the lawn mower out soon. LOL

No, the soybeans across the road are far from ready to harvest. They were planted much later. There are still a lot of fields that were planted later because it was so wet this spring. Planting season dragged on and so will harvest season.

Those soybeans must have loved that rain, though. I hope the farmer gets a bumper crop.

Yeah...hubby had just mowed in the past few days, so it’s not going to be long before he’ll be at it again.

The poor St. Augustine that was nearly dead is spreading a bit, too, so that’s a good thing. It’ll take forever to cover the lawn again if it ever does. It took a long time before, but we were younger and could do more to help it spread by digging up plugs and planting in bare spots. Can’t much do that any more. Especially under the dry conditions that have developed. Well, I made a short story long. LOL!

Yeah, the beans were looking pretty rough a couple of days ago but I imagine they sprang back today. The leaves looked dry and were curling up a little but they’re still a healthy shade of green.

At least your grass still has some life. You might not see the whole yard covered again but at least you still have SOME green.

A very pleasant good Sunday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

You had a much nicer day for your outing yesterday and Gizmo obviously enjoyed it. I say he enjoyed his share of the ribs too. :-)

Amazing what a real good drink of water will do, isn’t it? Plants are pretty resilient.

Sleep well and be kid to your alarm in the morning.
Catch ya tomorrow.

Good afternoon/evening,ML...((HUGS))...and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

Hope you and Blue had some fun time today.

Internet went on the blink yesterday afternoon. Spent some quality time with the Geek Squad and I am now fully functioning again. WHEW! I had withdrawal symptoms.

I HATE when I lose Internet.

When it happens, I have to just get out and ride.

But if it’s winter or raining, I’m sunk!
