The famed Langer’s Deli in downtown Los Angeles could close, its owner tells the Los Angeles Times.

Norm Langer, 79, has spent almost his entire life growing up around and running the 77-year-old delicatessen.

But with the persistent public safety and homelessness issues plaguing nearby MacArthur Park and the surrounding area, Langer is “considering closing,” he told Times columnist Steve Lopez, who called the possibility a “hole-in-your-soul development.”

Langer added that he hopes city officials provide “improved lighting, increased police patrols, social services outreach and targeted clean-up efforts,” and Lopez noted that “the more I talked to Langer, the more I got the sense that he’d rather keep his business running than walk away.”

So what would Langer tell city leaders?

“Let them get their act together, and I won’t go anywhere,” he said. “How does that sound?”

Los Angeles' iconic Langer's Deli may shutter as crime, homelessness ravages neighborhood: 'It's not safe'

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/los-angeles-iconic-langer-s-deli-may-shutter-as-crime-homelessness-ravages-neighborhood-it-s-not-safe/ar-AA1pzSfH

The iconic Langer’s Deli in downtown Los Angeles is considering closing its doors after 76 years as rising crime and homelessness in the area continues to plague local residents and businessowners.

"It's not safe," Norm Langer, who owns the famed establishment, told FOX 11. "It's too many needles. Too much fentanyl. Too much drugs."

Side Note:

I have eaten at Langers for decades when in town.  They are one of the best Jewish Deli's anywhere.  Not that there is a bad one but, in L.A. they are an institution and it would be a damn shame if they close or left

Well, if California would just elect more Democrats, maybe things like this wouldn’t happen!

The timeless question remains.

WHO DID YOU VOTE FOR?

Might as well shut it down now. It’s inevitable once the fuzzy muzzies take over.

I wouldn’t even park my car in that area. No joke.

That entire MacArthur Park area is full of illegals, spooks, druggies, parolees, gangster cockroaches.

Many decades ago it was a nice area, then they opened the borders along with their country killing endless chain immigration completely destroyed that area.

It doesn’t matter - the Langer’s ownership may vote Republican for all we know. But it’s still Los Angeles, California.

That #19 sandwich looks very good; but I bet working there is like working in a candy shop. After a while, you don’t even want to look at meat...

They couldn’t take me to that area in a complementary, fully stocked stretch limo with a free lunch offer. That place would give any normal person the heebie-jeebies.

anarchotyranny wasn’t a “thing” when Norm Langer was growing up...

MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark.

If you left the cake out, it would be gone in about 10 seconds.

Someone left the cake out in the rain.

And the aforementioned cockroaches ate it!

I have to admit, I really like the Richard Harris version. Dave Barry has fun with it, but the man takes the over the top lyrics and arrangement and he manages to sell the song. He convinced me he really meant it.

Someone left the cake out in the rain.

An odd metaphor for breaking up with your girlfriend. But who am I to judge, the guy wrote some serious hits.
