On Tuesday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), a candidate for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination, was bullish on Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the presidency in November.
However, while discussing the trend underway for Democrats, the Minnesota congressman said he should be a Republican.

Just be a DINO AND VOTE WITH REPUBLICANS!
As much as they try to ignore it that still small voice remains.
No kidding. But if he is so stupid to say such a thing and not switch, then he’s too stupid to be a Republican. With stupidity like that, he’s a perfect Democrat.
We already have too many village idiots in the GOP.
We don’t need another one from MN.
Better yet, don't.
Election results and ideology ratings for Dean Phillips
Love that 96% lifetime anti-conservative rating.
His concerns have nothing to do with getting re-elected to the House (since for one thing, he isn't even running). Phillips' suburban Minneapolis district was R+2 back in 2012, but demographic deterioration -- NOT redistricting -- has moved it hard to the left and it is now safely D+8.
Phillips won by almost 20 points in 2022 and Republicans are not even trying to win it in 2024; they are recycling a joke candidate (Tad Jude) who ran unsuccessfully for the House three times in the 1990s to run in MN-3.
Trump got slaughtered there in 2020 by over 20 points and if things go really well he might lose it by only 15 this time. It's not your daddy's MN-3 district anymore.
Win re-election as Dem (which wouldn’t happen at this point if he switched), then change parties on Nov 6?
Sounds like a Manchin wannabe. Talk about how horrible the Dems are but continue to be one and vote with them when it counts.
I think Phillips is old school Democrat, and quite sincere and public spirited. Like Reagan, he didn’t leave the Democrat Party, they left him.
There's enough Rinos in the House already.
Interesting connection. I have read Powerline for years. They have some really smart writers (even though Hinderaker doesn’t like Trump), but Scott Johnson is one of the really good ones.
One of the qualifications to be a Republican is that your mother and father had to be married.
I saw this interview. Phillips is the personification of “if his lips are moving he is lying”
