Donald Trump has been accused of violating federal law by allegedly calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the ceasefire deal the U.S. is helping negotiate between Israel and Hamas.
The former president allegedly made the call on August 14, according to Axios, which cited two unnamed "U.S. sources who were briefed on the call."
The next day, however, Netanyahu's office denied that the call took place....
Axios cited one source as saying that Trump's alleged call was intended to encourage Netanyahu to take the ceasefire deal that was on the table. However, the unnamed source told the outlet that they did not know what the actual conversation was.....

Even if it did happen, POTUS Trump knows we are not at war with Israel. The Logan Act cannot stop speech from occurring between two people. Afteer all, John Kerry has set several clear precedents regarding conversations with the leaders of other countries.
They’re trying to entice Trump into getting off message.

My first thought. John Kerry never even pretended to speak for the United States Government. If Trump called Netanyahu offering more favorable treatment, or worse, or the same, when "he's in office" it would be a crime. It would be a crime for Trump to make representations about the policy of a future administration, unless he were elected, since it would give Israel an incentive to attempt to influence the election. He could be selling his office for foreign support for his election.
Typically, the headline makes an outrageous and sensational claim, and in the text of their own story they offer no proof, and actually contradict it.

If Trump encouraged Netanyahu to accept the cease fire deal, the Biden Administration should be pleased.
The Biden Administration WANTS the cease fire deal, so they should be happy about Trump’s phone call, if this story is even true.
