Exclusive: Conservative Republican endorses Harris, calls Trump a threat to democracy (Luttig)

Retired federal appeals court Judge J. Michael Luttig, a prominent conservative legal scholar put on the bench by President George H.W. Bush, is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump, whose candidacy he describes as an existential threat to American democracy.

It will be the first time Luttig, a veteran of two Republican administrations, has voted for a Democrat.

“In the presidential election of 2024 there is only one political party and one candidate for the presidency that can claim the mantle of defender and protector of America’s Democracy, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law,” Luttig wrote in a statement obtained exclusively by CNN. “As a result, I will unhesitatingly vote for the Democratic Party’s candidate for the Presidency of the United States, Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.”

this guy thought the Colorado's idea of kicking Trump off the ballot was legally sound too. "Existential threat to American democracy", Polly wants a cracker.

In my experience, I’ve come across few groups of professionals as uniformly mediocre as judges.

When you’re a retired judge with nothing to your name but a federal pension, and nobody would pay a nickel for a book you’d ever write, your only chance at getting rich is the sell out as a political propagandist.

And CNN reporters breathlessly crawled over one another to see who could get this “bombshell” out there the quickest.

It states this is the first time he voted for a Democrat. So he either voted for President Trump in 2016 and 2020, did not vote for anyone for President, voted for a third-party candidate, or is lying. I choose D - he is lying.

Also, I wonder how much he pulls in yearly. Does he pull in enough and does his 'benefits,' cancel out the high prices at all stores? How much does this schmuck make yearly?

Sorry, but this guy is brainless if he thinks that communist Harris is better for the country than Trump. It is amazing to me how shallow the character and intellect of these supposed “conservative Republicans” are. The Bush legacy continues its downward trend.

If being put on the bench by GHWB is considered ‘Conservative Republican’ credentials it’s not the kind of Republican I’d endorse or consider as an ideological ally.

GHWB was a Kennebunkport globalist and former CIA Director - that right there is enough for me to disqualify anything/anybody he’s connected with. As it turns out, none of that family or its ‘connections’ rings out positively for me now.

And their book deals are always timed around elections - just in time to maximize sales and bribe payments.

Because nothing screams “Conservative” like backing price controls and nationalizing of the pharmaceutical industry.

This retired judge has convinced me. First; I’m still going to vote for Trump. Second; This guy has used all the data to come to a wrong conclusion.
