Germany Issues Arrest Warrant for Ukrainian Citizen Volodymyr Z. over Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage

Germany has issued its first arrest warrant over the 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia to northern Europe, saying it is seeking a Ukrainian citizen, named only as Volodymyr Z.

A European Arrest Warrant issued in June over the sabotage of a major pipeline feeding Europe Russian gas has come to light for the first time. Per an investigation published by a group of German newspapers and broadcasters on Wednesday, the Federal Prosecutor General put out a warrant for the arrest of Ukrainian citizen named, in line with German privacy law protecting unconvicted suspects, as Ukrainian diving instructor “Volodymyr Z.”, reports Die Zeit.

Two other suspects are reportedly also being considered, but have not been issued with arrest warrants yet. A man and a woman, they are also said to be Ukrainian citizen professional diving instructors.

The German Prosecutor has not commented on the reports that it has a now months-old unserved arrest warrant on a Ukrainian citizen sought “on suspicion of unconstitutional sabotage” today, telling national media in a blanket statement: “I ask for your understanding that we generally do not comment on media reports and do not comment on arrest warrants as a matter of principle.”

It has been proven that Volodymyr Z. an experienced snorkeler stole a rowboat with a battery powered trolling motor less than 100 nautical miles from the series of explosions in the Baltic Sea. He was seen in possession a paper bag full of fireworks including powerful M-80 style firecrackers which have been known to completely destroy standard mailboxes.

It is now believed that Volodymyr Z. Navigated to just above several places above the Nordstream pipeline and used his snorkeling skills to swim down and to the 1.5 inch thick 4-foot diameter steel pipes and used duct tape to attach the M-80 firecrackers. Authorities are still working out how he lit the fuses under water and managed to get them all to go off at the same time despite being miles apart. But he is a very clever guy. If only a secret service sniper team had been present... this would have been an open and shut case.

Nice to see the Ukrainians are having some success but 386 sq miles is like 18 miles by 18 miles.

Every bit counts but for perspective that's not a huge amount of territory in the big scheme of things.

Hopefully this will give the Ukrainians some negotiating leverage in cease fire negotiations and not backfire on them.

Comments by some of the harder core fighters who participated in the initial attacks suggest that they are being rotated out of Russian territory and are being replaced by less experienced troops.

Hopefully this is not a case of hard core fighters making rapid gains against a poorly defended area who are now being withdrawn to be replaced by less experienced Ukrainian troops tasked with holding the territory.
