Former President Trump’s plane was diverted to Billings, Montana, on Friday due to a mechanical issue, a Billings airport official said.
The Republican presidential nominee is scheduled to hold a rally in nearby Bozeman, Montana, Friday evening, and is still expected to make it.
Bozenman is about a two-hour drive from Billings.

Are you kidding? They couldn’t be trusted with their regular job in Butler, PA, they sure don’t have the knowledge or experience to clear a plane’s readiness for flights. I’m sure Trump has his own airplane maintenance crew so whatever the issue, they’ll be on it... He’s probably had the same flight crew and mechanics for his planes for years -A&P (Airframe and Powerplant mechanics), AI-(aircraft inspectors) trained to FAA standards with appropriate licensing after training.
I guess PDT aircraft crew had to land the plane to replenish the heat seeking counter measure flares. Deep state missed again.
Trump needs to be in swing states, not solid red Montana.

Who signed off on whether or not the plane was airworthy?

Lots of open space once you get past Illinois. Obviously, being protected by the same secret service that is run by the DHS Mayorkas has proven to be a liability.
It seems to me that one of the easiest ways to kill someone is to mess with their plane. Was this another assassination attempt?
Montana population is about 1.1 million. About 250,000 of those are getting social security benefits..Trump wants to stop taxes on SS payments....about 61 million people get SS benefits each month in USA....Going to Montana seems like a good strategic way to vex Jon tester and get out the SS tax cut message.
True, but his flight plan has to be filed regardless. Perhaps his internal intel suggested that a diversion from the planned approach route/airport would be prudent. They tried to kill him already. They’ve already hyped stories in the media about a possible Iranian assassination attempt. How easy would it be to shoot down his plane and blame it on a foreign power now?
Pretty sure that is the Captain’s responsibility.
