Though first recorded in the late '40's, this classic rose to [o[ularity with this one in 1965, Rod Stewart (my favorite) and the Pogues Version cemented the song as a classic:

Many of those early 1960s tunes like “Green Onions” by Booker T and the MG’s have a 1950s tightness and coolness to them versus the 60s rawness, fuzz guitar, and free-spirited lyrics.
