Hidden camera found in shrubbery outside suburban New York home. Officials say it's part of a nationwide trend.

Police have issued a warning about camouflaged cameras hidden in the shrubbery outside upscale suburban homes after one was found in Scarsdale earlier this week.

It's just the latest incident in a nationwide trend. Police in California have been warning about camouflaged cameras for several weeks.

Near Boston, a camera was found hidden in shrubs outside a home, and three people were arrested after they allegedly used the camera to time a break-in for when the family was away. All three suspects had New York City addresses.

A Scarsdale homeowner doing yardwork found the surprise in their shrubbery. Police say it was a camera camouflaged with fake greenery and hooked up to a cellular hotspot to broadcast surveillance video to parts unknown.

Scarsdale police are getting help from the FBI and Homeland Security, trying to find who's behind the hidden camera.

"The group is generally from South America, the group that we are investigating," said Scarsdale Police Lt. Steve Delbene.

Delbene said video from a camouflaged camera can help burglars monitor opportunities to break into homes or steal vehicles.

"Criminals have taken advantage of the technology of the day to make it a little bit safer for them to monitor potential homes to be burglarized," he said.

"The bad guys are ahead of us," Scarsdale resident Steve Samtur said.

Samtur said it's concerning to his neighbors, and many residents have been checking their shrubbery for hidden surveillance cameras.

If they try that at our house they'll meet an insanely defensive Dutch Shepherd.

She's nuts enough to I had to train her not to bite a running chainsaw.

"The bad guys are ahead of us," Scarsdale resident Steve Samtur said.

The really bad guys are the guys that let them pass across the border hoping to increase the electoral count.

You don’t need Fed permission to withdraw $10k.

I have several MUBVIEW solar powered WiFi cameras around my property. Once set up, they don’t need much from me.

They alert to my Apple watch and iPhone.

Confiscate the camera and set it in front of a computer screen playing a looped cartel execution video.

There are mini cams that look like common landscape rocks. They’ve been around for years. Every once in a while someone with a weed eater will hit one exposing what it is.

From the article: ...and hooked up to a cellular hotspot to broadcast surveillance video to parts unknown.

The cellular carriers know exactly where those digital packets went to.

I believe any cash transactions in excess of $10,000 are reported to the IRS.

These poor destitute illegal alien gang members manage to find the funds to purchase great technology which they are using to case houses to determine when people leave their homes. They can then swoop in and take their time stealing all the expensive items they can carry in several trips.

Be careful in leaving your 12 year old daughter at home by herself. They may be watching for that as well.
