Flooding tides. Soaring temperatures. Even species disappearing, like a rare cactus declared this month forever ‘extirpated’ from the Florida Keys. Many troubling signs of climate change in South Florida are visible — but one that affects a growing number of people is not.
It’s called climate anxiety, a fear of what the future may hold in a warming world.
Some may scoff, perhaps the same skeptics of science showing the environmental already changing, but academic researchers and practicing psychologists have identified climate anxiety as an increasingly common stressor.
Experts at Yale University define it this way: distress about climate change and its impacts on the landscape and human existence. It can manifest as intrusive thoughts or troubled feelings about the future of the world. Also called “eco-anxiety,” it can take the form of “eco-guilt,” a feeling of not doing enough personally, or even “eco-rage,” an elevated anger that everybody else isn’t doing enough to deal with looming threats.
More than a decade ago, a community of mental health practitioners first formed what it called the Climate Psychology Alliance focused on the complicated emotions surrounding the climate crisis. They also built a directory of therapists prepared to work with clients on the issue.
Brittany Rivers, one of two climate-aware therapists in the state listed on the alliance directory, now offers services like mental health therapy, nature based therapy and hosts Climate Cafes online, which are support groups for those struggling with climate distress.

Mentally ill people are mentally ill.
Mentally ill people latch on to whatever is convenient and then obsess over it.
The media demands that people latch on to climate change and obsess over it.
Mentally ill people are willing to comply.
Maybe they should consider it the first stages of Gods judgement on this country for rejecting Him. God is powerful enough to control nature. Man is not. Take your pick on what part of the country, floods, drought, or drought/fires.
Move back to NY and NJ. You’ll feel better. I’ll feel better.
Hyperbole about climate change, whether it be natural and cyclitic, or anthropogenic, causes climate anxiety, not the climate change itself. Predicting bad outcomes, with no apparent relief, generates a pessimistic attitude. But human beings CAN find ways to cope with this climate change, and adapt to it, if given encouragement and assurances that the immediate effects shall diminish or disappear altogether, over time, and do not represent “the end of the world”.
emergency mental health issues, they are making every attempt to solidify climate change scam into the health system thereby making it a human right to fund, alienate deniers, and to control the population with mandates
I agree! As God prepares the world for the Great Tribulation unbelievers will attribute every thing to man caused climate change!
Perhaps if we paid no attention to Greta Thunberg, climate prophet and autistic high school dropout. Al Gores idiotic ideas about boiling seas and the medias fear mongering about the planet has only a few years left until climate apocalypse we would have some semblance of sanity restored
These are people, mainly women and children, who are highly suggestible. They constitute a measurable fraction of the population. Highly suggestible people will uncritically absorb pretty much anything you tell them if you sound assured and authoritative. They tend toward concrete thinking and acceptance. In and of itself, high suggestibility is not a mental illness, but it is a strong risk factor for buying pigs in pokes.
The article highlights a good example. A woman named Olivia Collins read a silly novel about a kid in a hurricane and immediately became anxious, seeking out a therapist to help her with her fear. This is a grade 5 suggestibility feature— this is a person who will believe anything she reads or hears, and act on it. Easy prey for the climateers.
It’s been a mild summer for Oklahoma. July was very moderate, with only a day or two actually reaching 100. Some years we might have 20 days or more of that.
Climate change is amazing! Why it’s responsible for everything!
Another growth industry for the brain butchers. “Upset about Climate Change? Here, take these pills. No go shoot up the workplace or drown your children. You’re welcome “
“… like a rare cactus declared this month forever ‘extirpated’ from the Florida Keys…”
A sub-tropical cactus that can’t take a few more degrees of heat?
Global warming!
We’ve had some very hot temps where I live, too (in flyover country) but I can’t honestly look at it & call it “climate change” It’s summer, always gets hot, & this year may have had more or less hot days, but nothing all that unusual. Beside, by now almost everyone should realize who controls the climate. Hint: It’s not us the people.
Yep- i remember very hot summers back in the 70’s, 80’s etc- it just happens some years, and not others-
I went home to Texas for Christmas/New Years in 1985 and it was extremely warm weather and I was wearing shorts and a T-Shirt. Exactly one year later, I was home again when my grandmother died on New Years day. Sleet and snow with temps in the 20’s. But wait a minute...the climate schmucks tell me it’s only a weather event.
The stooges who buy into that **** are crazy, so, in a way, it's true.
when it doesn’t fit the narrative, it’s a ‘weather event’- when it does fit- it’s ‘climate change’- it’s all a major scam- and the left are gettign rich off it
According to my understanding of God’s Word, there will be some real drastic climate change as the Tribulation time comes upon the earth. Man will be completely unable to change that.
