Biden announced his intention to drop out of the race July 21 and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's nominee.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Former US President Barack Obama threatened Joe Biden with removal from office under the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution if he did not withdraw from the presidential race, US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has claimed.
Obama told Biden he had gotten the approval of US Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the safeguard against presidential incapacity, Hersh said in a blog post on Substack.
The journalist noted that, in accordance with the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, the US president may be removed from power in the event he is judged to no longer be able to carry out his duties, with the vice president stepping into the role.
Hersh claimed that by the time Obama called Biden, it was already clear Harris would receive Democratic leaders' approval to run as the party's candidate.

Agreed. That stuff is just diversionary wishful nonsense intended to distract potential supporters that such things are practicably possible. Court packing, Electoral College dissolution, etc. - both VERY difficult to accomplish. It requires either a huge Congressional majority and Constitutional Amendment.
It is intended to keep people from thinking about how much trouble we are STILL in these last 6 months.
But by setting that condition, which Team Biden agreed to, he is being allowed to stay on as Vegetable-in-Chief.

The number of justices may be regulated by statute.
Changing the fact that they have lifetime appointments would require an amendment.
That is exactly what nobody really talks about. It amazes me that very few even mention it.
Is Kamala is just a placeholder candidate? A test to see if taking Joe out of the race makes a big difference? Is she there just to buy time until the convention where they can anoint the real candidate? Is she aware of that? Or is she in on it?
Obviously from here on out the democrat party has set a precedent for changing horses in the middle of the race. It would be hard for a candidate of any opposition party to plan a campaign when they really do not know who they are running against. Was this the plan all along?
