As much as I think these people have demonstrated that they have the integrity of a third-world dictator and should have no say in anything, we have to allow cross-examination by hostile forces if we’re to be any better than Nancy Pelosi who seated the illegal J6 committee by refusing to allow people with views hostile to hers.
No way would I allow Thompson or Goldman to head up a committee that is supposed to find out the truth about the Secret Service’s complicity in an assassination attempt on Trump. But there has to be cross-examination allowed to ensure that NO committee is just a bunch of political henchmen who don’t have to answer questions about the evidence.
Not exactly a scandal. Bennie Thompson is the ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee. That committee has oversight of the Secret Service, so it’s not surprising that Dems would choose him as one of their lawmakers to investigate, since he serves on the committee of oversight (as the most senior member for D’s) for the Secret Service.
They are so desperate they aren’t even trying to hide their criminality anymore.

Dems are not in control of the House, so their desires are not relevant.
And they know how to destroy evidence.
Let the Dems appoint this guy, and all the other crazy Trump haters they want. This serves 2 purposes:
First, it shows that unlike the Dems WRT the J6 Committee, Republicans let the other side choose their own members to ensure a fair investigation; and
Second, people will notice (especially if attention is drawn to their past remarks) that the Dems are both nuts AND created the atmosphere which allowed/encouraged an assassination attempt.
Besides, the Republicans will still control this committee 7-6, so the Dems can huff and puff, but they won’t get their way on any issue if the R’s stay united. Oh, and we had BETTER put our best people on this committee - and NO Never Trumpets whatsoever!
Republicans should say he will be called as a witness so he can’t be on the panel.
