Harrowing footage captured an armed man being shot dead in Indianapolis as he yelled at a driver in a suspected road-rage incident.
The footage shared on social media allegedly shows the moment Gavin Dasaur, 29, quickly approaches a white Chevy pickup truck on Tuesday evening and attempts to punch the driver while holding what appears to be a handgun.
The driver tries to smack the punch away, with Dasaur shifting the weapon to his left hand as he appears to berate the driver while pointing at them repeatedly with his right hand.
The driver then points their own gun at Dasaur, firing repeatedly as the 29-year-old falls to the ground.
The seven-second video capturing the chaos ends with the person filming the exchange taking cover in their own car.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting broke out around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of South Emerson Avenue and Thompson Road.
Witnesses told police the shooting occurred over a road-rage incident between the Chevy driver and Dasaur, who was driving a black Honda, local WTHR reports.
The driver of the pickup truck was initially detained but later released after investigators found that the driver may have been acting in self-defense.
Cinthya ZaMora, Dasaur’s wife, condemned the shooting as she grieved her husband’s death.
“He was a hardworking man that always went out of his way to help anyone and wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she told the local outlet.

His walks up to the truck with his gun in his right hand. He switched the gun to his left hand below the sight of the driver. Then he raises his right hand. Fatal move.

His first mistake was getting out of his car.
Second mistake, walking up to parked driver’s window, the better to yell at him up close.
Third mistake: reaching in to hit, grapple with or otherwise invade the driver’s personal space, all the while clutching an exposed weapon.

Welcome to the America of 2024, where functional illiteracy reigns and social media seems to discourage any effort to proof what one writes.
“He was a hardworking man that always went out of his way to help anyone and wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she told the local outlet.
This may be true, but approaching anyone with a drawn weapon is not a wise move… if you feel you need a gun to confront someone then you probably shouldn’t be doing it. If your level of fear or concern is such you need a drawn weapon to to do the act, you should equally assume the other person assumes you intend to use it, which makes you a target for life ending response by any reasonable person.
Brandishing a weapon is an instantaneous acknowledgement that this is a deadly force situation, period.

Was a hardworking man.
Somebody should compose a song.
Dude hit truck with his fist, then raised arm again and Pop, pop, pop down he went.
