Democratic strategist David Axelrod said early Friday morning that former President Trump’s speech at the Republican National Committee (RNC) was “the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in three weeks.”
“People, I’m sure, responded very positively to his appeals to unity that were written on the teleprompter, and then he just ripped the bejesus out of everybody… all his political enemies and so on,” Axelrod, also a former Obama adviser said on CNN.
“I have to tell you… Chris Wallace said this,” Axelrod said. “This is the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in the last three weeks.”
Axelrod said Trump’s speech “really reminded everyone why Donald Trump is fundamentally unpopular outside this room.”
Trump formally accepted his party’s presidential nomination Thursday via a long and rambling speech. It went over an hour and a half, resulting in it being the longest acceptance speech by a major party candidate

the fact is, Trump was winning before, and he is still winning now.
I’ve always thought he was off the rails.
You are WAY over-thinking this. Trump didn’t need to attack Biden directly, Biden’s chaotic problems are clear enough to everyone. Just the fact that he’s putting out that he might pull out of the race highlights his inadequacy in stark relief. There is NO good side to this for Democrats regardless of the schemes they dream up. They have chaos now, and they’ll continue to have chaos throughout this cycle.
And Axelrod is both a fool and an idiot. Without Soros money, he’d be flipping burgers at Burger King.

Yes he would but he is right about the speech. It was not Trump’s best but he was shot less than a week ago. He had to along with the unity BS. I doubt the speech itself will have much impact either way.

Trump’s speech was great! And it was NOT bombastic at all! Filled with grace and humility. What? They didn’t want him to mention all their colossal failures? Too bad!
