Democratic strategist David Axelrod said early Friday morning that former President Trump’s speech at the Republican National Committee (RNC) was “the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in three weeks.”
“People, I’m sure, responded very positively to his appeals to unity that were written on the teleprompter, and then he just ripped the bejesus out of everybody… all his political enemies and so on,” Axelrod, also a former Obama adviser said on CNN.
“I have to tell you… Chris Wallace said this,” Axelrod said. “This is the first good thing that’s happened to Democrats in the last three weeks.”
Axelrod said Trump’s speech “really reminded everyone why Donald Trump is fundamentally unpopular outside this room.”
Trump formally accepted his party’s presidential nomination Thursday via a long and rambling speech. It went over an hour and a half, resulting in it being the longest acceptance speech by a major party candidate

The left is butthurt that their assassin missed.
That’s weak sauce dipshit.....crawl back under whatever slimy rock you came from.......and take that weasel wallace with you.
Axelrodster is the weirdest thing that’s happened to American politics since the Clintoons left office.
He was going to say that even if President Trump had come out and capitulated. NO COMPRIMISE WITH MARXISTS.
AXELROD lives inside his OWN head. A VERY SMALL SPACE.
A partisan speech at a political party’s convention, who would have guessed?
I thought it was rather mild and somber in tone. There were no mean remarks unless you call pointing out the opponent’s bad policies are a mean remark..............
If Trumps speeches were going to hurt him well, that ship already sailed and here we are.
A lot of wishful thinking as Democrats try to deal with their dog’s breakfast of a candidate.
Biden is staying in now... his campaign has put a screen door on a submarine.
I wonder if Biden can talk for an hour and a half and mention Trump only once.
On the contrary - most non political junkies would only have watched the first 10 minutes at most, and they would have seen and heard a very different Trump than the one the Asselrod-media would have them see - the one who makes fun of fat Rosie and mean tweets.
Of course Asselrod knows this but what else can they say?
Biden can’t stand on his feet for 10 min.
Sure it was Davie now maybe you should tell Pinocchio he should run because it will be a piece of cake.
How about it Davie?
I don’t think the speech means very much.
Both parties can spin it however they want.
That picture of Trump holding his fist up after being shot cannot be unseen.
Any American going to the polls who has the best interest of this country at heart can clearly see that Trump not Biden is more fit to lead.
It is not even close to being a close call.
Yet he's kicking Joes butt.
Wonder if he is talking to Barry or Big Mike?
Really? I heard him say “Crazy Nancy Pelosi,” but anybody’s with half a brain agrees with that.
I didn’t really hear him “rip the bejesus” out of anybody.
Axelrod is sounding a tad desperate.
*anybody
Trump’s speech: first twenty minutes (about his personal recollection of the assassination) were excellent. The next twenty minutes (about the need for the country to unify) were fine. After that, unfocused, rambling; but, this is Trump’s style. He talks with his audience and makes a personal connection. Even though there’s a teleprompter, there’s a lot of spontaneity to this. But, Trump wasn’t at his best last night. Conclusion: disappointing.
But notice the difference: Biden can dissemble right before our eyes, and that’s fine. But, if Trump doesn’t hit a home run, that’s to be criticized.
