The local police officer who was hoisted up to the edge of the roof and spotted former President Donald Trump’s would-be assassin is not to blame for the carnage that unfolded, Butler Township Commissioner Edward Natali said during an appearance on Breitbart News Daily, explaining that the mainstream media are not accurately telling the story of what actually happened.
The news has been inundated with stories of an unnamed local police officer who encountered the Thomas Crooks prior to the shooting, largely placing blame on that officer. But Natali said that is not fair, nor is the story accurate.
He explained that seven local police officers — Butler Township Police Department officers — “were strictly there for traffic control.”
“When you look at Secret Service, Pennsylvania State Police, Butler County Sheriff’s Department, the Butler Township police only responsibility was traffic detail, and I’m not going to comment on any other entity that was there, but I want to set the record straight,” he said, noting comments from many who are placing blame on local officers.

Ladder was on parking lot side of building.
Crooks was seen from grassy side of building.
Was the ladder in pictures placed there by Crooks or after the shooting by LE for roof access?
Ok, so you hear there’s a guy on the roof but did those two deputies radio SS or anyone? That should have been first. Next, draw your weapon if you’re going into the unknown or possible assassin. Three, was there a safer and more advantageous way to the roof and why not more than one guy? Four, your weapon, per step 2, is ready and you do your duty to the POTUS and the crowd. Nope, this sounds like he pulled a Uvalde and now Corey is dead.
Hey, I’m not saying they couldnt have done different or better. The sheriff is saying they were there for traffic duty. Dont blame them for trying.
SS made many bad decisions that were baked into this from the planning stage (perimeters not big enough, now security sweep not sufficient to find a pre-hidden weapon?) and compounded by failure to manage on the day of (missing sniper that was supposed to be on that roof).
Thats all on SS to explain.
You go it all wrong.....
Apparently after.
Last thing I heard was that he used an a/c unit to clamber up onto the roof.
And if he had the AR broken down inside a backpack, he might not have stood out in a crowd that size.
I’m not trying to make excuses, just being realistic.
Trump’s SS detail was operating at a disadvantage that day. A lot of guys got poached by Dr. Jill’s visit to somewhere else in Pa., and only a couple of his normal guys were with him. Jill also had 3 counter-sniper teams covering her.
If it wasn’t actually orchestrated as a setup, it was a cascading tragedy of errors.
More like you are an officer on foot patrol who happens upon robbers speeding at you in a car and have no time to do anything but jump out of the way. The failures here belong to the Secret Service and they are so blatant I can’t help but wonder if someone in charge deliberately left security holes so that something like this could happen.
Were they supposed to keep ambulances from getting in or out?
My understanding is that the local police department only has 12 people in it, so there wasn’t much they could have been assigned to do as any sort of cohesive unit. There were state police and others there. Hopefully we’ll figure out who was assigned where eventually, and who didn’t make sure that building was covered.
Have you seen the video of the police reaction force trying to get through the locked gate, and eventually bashing it with a car?
More recent reports are that there was no ladder used. The guy bought a ladder at Home Depot, but eventually just climbed on an air conditioner to get to the roof.
Your narrative ignores the role of communications between the local, the state police and the secret service.
I am convinced there was jamming and sabotage.
Nobody is talking about it.
It is the elephant in the room.
