We all want to know if the snipers had reason to fire then why didn’t the Secret Service shut down the speech, get Trump away and announce later that a threat had been investigated elsewhere?

Haven’t there been cases of mysterious delays and shutdowns at events and then “an unattended backpack” or “a van” was searched and cleared?
The gun fight in Garland, Texas wasn’t a lone wolf event. The shooters had help from the FBI.

I am a short female and regularly carry an aluminum extension ladder that is 10 foot when not extended. It fits in my truck just fine, only sticks out the back end over the tailgate two feet.
If an older lady like me can do it to clean people’s gutters a young man of 20 should find it easy. But doing it without being seen us another matter, if there was anyone stationed over at that building, as there should have been.
The ladder was probably there already, either as part of the site’s equipment or brought by the shooter or a helper days before, but it would have been on the side of the building away from the view of people at the rally.

Yeah. He had one of those little, extendo ladders in his bag (?) with his gun. He might as have backed a truck up woth a cherry picker for all the attention he was NOT getting.
From comments I heard, the ladder was an addition and not attached to the building.
