The Return of the Military Draft
Foreign Policy ^ | 7/10/24 | Raphael Cohen

After decades of becoming increasingly rare, the military draft is back in the debate.

Israel—which has long had mandatory conscription—is currently debating whether or not to lengthen its service for reservists as a result of its ongoing war against Hamas and Hezbollah, and it may soon expand the draft to the currently exempted ultra-Orthodox population following an Israeli Supreme Court ruling voiding the exemption last month. In May, Ukraine expanded its draft in order to replenish its forces as it continues to fight off the Russian invasion. Russia has similarly broadened its compulsory military service in response to mounting casualties in Ukraine. In the Baltic states, Latvia reintroduced the draft in 2023 following Russia’s attack on Ukraine; Lithuania reintroduced it in 2015 in response to Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine; Estonia never abolished it. And halfway across the world, Taiwan recently lengthened its conscription period in response to increasingly menacing threats from China.

Bingo! The DC neocons and globohomos don’t want the woke pansies and confused women they’ve built this circus of an army around. They want your normal, healthy, patriotic grandSON to fight their forever wars. They woke the military to death in order to get an unlimited supply of our boys for all of their colonial misadventure meat grinders.

I sat in a basement watching the first lottery on TV. I was in school 80 miles from Montreal. 3 guys left that night.

I was #326.

This is all brought on by woke-homo chiefs of staff administrators.

As long as they get the bodies, it doesn’t matter much to them. Look at the poor Ukrainians and that horrible situation.

Imagine what would have happened after 9/11 if Dubya had brought back the draft. No one would have objected.

You have no evidence to support that.

Even in 2001 this country was way past the point where Americans were tough enough emotionally to subject themselves to that kind of sh!t.

Anyone with an IQ over 70 should have been asking themselves why there was no military campaign against Saudi Arabia.

They don’t want the bodies. They want minds. They want people who want to make a career in the military. Bodies that come without the minds are just in the way.

“””””Our entire senior enlisted leadership were volunteers who came up through the ranks when the rules were simple. Follow orders or get kicked out. They didn’t need to use any sort of corporal punishment to keep service members in line.
Yet WWII and Korea was fought by draftees with Vietnam being mostly volunteers.”””””

You didn’t check their records, and that goes even for the generals who were draftees.

How do you account for 33 years of draftees doing just fine in the military from 1940-1973, including the drafted Marines during all those wars?

Stunning. The most powerful woke Navy in the world is traumatized by a 3rd world country! We'll have to bring over the Ukraine Conscription squads to handle the draft.

When 9/11 happened females and blacks started withdrawing from enlisting while there was a slight uptick in white males.

Even though it has not been declared yet, we are in WWIII. ...

Declaring wars went out of fashion after 1945.

I've said it before when it came up. If they thought there was non-compliance during the Vietnam war, wait'll they see what happens this time. And the very same type of people who were gung ho back then will be the biggest non-compliers.

The government likes to leak its plans so that people get used to the policies they are considering. When you hear government funded think tanks with very influential people talking about bringing back the draft, then the government is seriously considering bringing back the draft.

Our reptilian establishment wants another major war and they are marching towards that goal.

Except of course out here in reality these BS stories have been showing up every single year for 30 years, maybe more but we didn’t see them before the internet, and so far every single time they’ve been BS.
Every
single
time

Take the under. The draft will NOT be reinstated, and stop believing these liars that say it will be.

Tell that to Stalin. He didn’t give a damn about minds as long he had leadership to manage all the bodies.
You need to look up attrition.

Weird we're talking about the draft now. No such conversation during the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.

And the leadership didn’t like, and their military wasn’t very good.

And also there’s the fact that any time anybody brings up reinstating the draft to members of the Joint Chiefs they’re all very much against. Most of the time when we see somebody actually start pushing to reinstate the draft here it’s some military hating liberal who doesn’t like how popular the military is and knows that if the draft comes back people will start hating the military again.

It’s not coming back. Stop listening to liars.

The military doesn’t want it. The US cannot afford it. And we are not facing existential threats as we did in 1940. Any existential threats would occur in minutes—and no draft is going to react to that.

This is all drama talk. It’s not going anywhere.
