Democrats’ Effort to Push Biden Off Ticket Loses Steam

WASHINGTON—An effort by some Democrats to seek an alternative to President Biden as the party’s nominee appeared to flag on Tuesday, with lawmakers signaling no clear path forward after the president made clear he was dead set against stepping aside.

House and Senate Democrats held conference meetings for the first time since Biden flopped at the first presidential debate, a debacle for the party that heightened concerns that the 81-year-old incumbent couldn’t beat former President Donald Trump and may not be fit enough for another four years even if he did win.

Lawmakers aired their frustrations with their predicament but a concerted push to install a new nominee didn’t emerge. Their private meetings ended without consensus, leaving the stare-down with Biden without a clear resolution less than four months until Election Day.

With the Democrats being in such a profound state of quandary, there is no way they're going to gather the intense unity that will be needed to pressure Joe into withdrawing. Without that, they're stuck with it.

Not to mention, there’s not enough time to reprint all the ballots that already have his name check-marked.

Face it, the Democratic base doesn’t want Dementia Joe off the ticket, and honestly, I don’t think Trump does either.

We went from “He has to go” to “No he’s fine” in one day

No. It’s time for us to come up with more ‘anonymous’ sources-you know. The ones that know he’s a loser. Make the ‘supporters’ look like dip-$hits.

They put the debate on to force him out. There will be more actions to take him out. If he has vascular dementia, they could cause a vascular incident. They could insert something inflammatory in a written speech. I don’t think they have given up.

Democrats are strongest when they’re united in their hatred or bigotry, and they believe each others’ lies with total conviction. If it hasn’t kicked in yet, it will.

Overheard on Twitter:

[Vibe check for tomorrow: A House Democrat deeply skeptical of Biden tells me “the dam is holding” and predicts “very few members will openly speak in favor of Biden stepping aside.”
“As someone who wanted the reckoning and is disappointed that it’s over, trust me: it’s over.”]

This drew the following retort:

[Oh so you spoke with @MarkWarner. He’s never going to be POTUS, and we will never vote for Mark Warner, you can deliver that message to him when you speak with him again “anonymously”.]

Stupid question, perhaps, but why would any ballots be printed before either party has an official nominee?

Will Joe/Jill/Hunter retaliate against Obama who has loosed the hounds.

The Biden has the power of the presidency. He can do a lot of damage to the supernatural winged horse-like creature of islam.

The Party wants Joe to be gone, but he’s not leaving and they can’t push him aside.

If he fails to wake up some morning, it’s murder. That’s Plan B and it’s all they have now.

Note the double entendre in the first paragraph of the Wall Street Journal story:

The WSJ editors left that comment in for amusement.

A dead man's switch in a large truck is a useful safety device should the operator suddenly become incapacitated.

But be careful.  A dead man's switch could also be strapped to a zealot wearing a bomb and threatening to blow everything up.

Choose wisely, demonRats and RINOs.  Go President Trump!
