Ukraine Would Not Have Hit Sevastopol Without US' Direct Participation - Russian FM Lavrov

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Ukrainian missiles would not have hit Russian cities, including Sevastopol, without direct US involvement in targeting, and Moscow will respond "in the foreseeable future," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Sunday.

"Without the direct involvement of the United States in the targeting and processing of satellite data, these missiles would not have gone anywhere ... As for our response, the [Russian] president said we will respond, and I'm sure you'll hear about it in the foreseeable future," Lavrov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin.

The diplomat said NATO and the US continue to insist on their non-involvement in the conflict with Russia, and called it a "bad play" evident to everyone.

On June 23, Ukrainian forces attacked Sevastopol – the largest city on the Crimean Peninsula – using ATACMS missiles with cluster warheads provided by the US. Four of the missiles were shot down and one deflected, causing it to detonate over the city.

The attack claimed four lives, including two children, and injured 153 people, including 27 children. The next day after the attack, Russia summoned US Ambassador in Moscow Lynne Tracy to express protest. The United States bears equal responsibility with Kiev for the missile strike on the civilian population of Sevastopol, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Waaa. Waaaa. Waaa.

Easy to solve: Move the Russian troops to Russia. Then its pretty likely no one will rop bombs on them.

In other words,

“Your Western weapons are just too effective, so we have to make up these lame excuses & threats in a desperate effort to cut off the supply”

“Waaa. Waaaa. Waaa.”

Your loss - Russia likely made it PERFECTLY CLEAR (during Austin’s call) two weeks ago that US drones were no longer permitted over the Black Sea.

...and just like that, no more drones there, and no more attacks on Crimea.

The Neocons need to get out of their War Crime mode, as it’s counterproductive to their goal of ‘weakening Russia’.

That horse faced bastard can GO “F” HIMSELF!

What does John Kerry have to do with any of this?

( Not that I disagree with your sentiments about Kerry )

I thought they were Nazis? Now they are neo cons.

Why do you Russians want to be around these people? You would think you would just go home. It’s not likely these neocon nazi dogs would follow you home. At least not too far.

“I thought they were Nazis? Now they are neo cons.”

I don’t believe that I ever called the Neocons Nazis, although they certainly SUPPORT THE NAZIS, openly now.

How about you Biden reps go back to Facebook or wherever you came from, you won’t change the minds of any of us conservatives here?

I’m happy to support it. Putin is the modern Hitler.

It’s rather amusing how folks such as you ignore the true threat to us and choose to align with the left in their convenient distraction.

I write ‘amusing’, but I am not laughing.

In fact, I have a rather violent reaction to learning I have traitors behind my back.

What exactly do you think the true threat is?

No. It’s a serious question. The debt? I’ve heard some say that but be serious. Our monetary commitment to Ukraine is insignificant if you’re worried about the debt. There are a thousand line items we could and should cut before we cut this. And I question whether there is really anything you can do to fix the upcoming fiscal implosion in any event. The debt is at $35 trillion. Or maybe China? China is aligned with Russia you know. In fact I’d say that at this point China is driving this. Can you do two things at once? You can’t simply ignore every problem except the one you consider to be “the true threat.”

“Natch” = Realization that someone who’s ostensibly been here since 2001 would live up to their username as an oxymoron, which applies equally as to whether you ‘get it’ or you believe applying lefty logic to another FReeper is appropriate.

If you want a teacher, go solicit one, as I gave up trying long ago (the ‘old dogs’ idiom is actually a paradigm in my experience, with RARE exception directly proportional to intelligence).

If you want an argument, it’s not a fair fight, a point you made clear with your initial comment and then doubling down with the moronic inquisition.

Go away, Mr. ‘Serious Question.’

You could be correct, but I believe that was done much more formally. US Ambassador Lynne Tracy was summoned by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and she received a démarche on June 24, 2024 protesting the ATACMS missile attack. Austin's phone call was the next day.

https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-war-us-missiles-2d2632712540897e2161f72c14bae44f

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the American ambassador on Monday to protest what it says was the use of U.S.-made advanced missiles in a Ukrainian attack on Russian-annexed Crimea that reportedly killed four people and wounded more than 150.

Washington “has effectively become a party” to the war on Ukraine’s side, the ministry said in a statement, adding, “Retaliatory measures will certainly follow.” It did not elaborate.

The Foreign Ministry did not elaborate in its public statement, but I believe Ambassador Tracy got an earful.

She certainly wasn’t called there for tea. The Neocons, I think, figured they were cute. They learned something different!

In 1783, the Crimean Khanate became an independent state under Russian influence, instead of being subject to the Ottomans.

After the Russian Civil War, Crimea became the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Again a nominally independent state.

When the German occupation ended in 1945, the Soviets deported the Crimean Tartars, dissolved the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and absorbed Crimea into the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.

Then in 1954, Russia handed Crimea over to Ukraine.

It was only that nine-year period, from 1945 to 1954, that Crimea was part of Russia.
