- US PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE DONALD TRUMP said during a debate with current US President Joe Biden that the proposals put forward by Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin as conditions for ending the war against Ukraine waged by Russia are “NOT ACCEPTABLE”.

Modern wars are not won so much on the battlefield as they are at home. The US won practically every battle in Vietnam but lost the war at home. WWI Germany was winning until they weren’t. The loss came at home when the government disintegrated

We won’t know what’s going on for real until it happens. We watch the news, listen to the commentary but we are not informed about the myriad problems each side faces at home.
And at home I’d guess Russia is the weaker combatant.

“The Ukrainians are fighting a losing battle. They are running out of men to throw into the front lines. They have no way to defend against the FAB bombs. One bomb takes out an entire building. They used to need 100s of rounds of artillery to get a similar result.”
https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4248870/posts?page=27#27

UPDATE

“Russian troops captured tiny part of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk Oblast, which was previously home to 12,000 people, three months after launching a broad offensive on Chasiv Yar, at cost of 99,000 killed and wounded, Forbes reported on July 4.

Analysts predict that the Russians will continue their offensive in this direction, slowly advancing at the cost of huge losses among personnel and equipment, while inflicting much less damage on Ukrainian forces.

“To capture each city or even district, the Russians are burying tens of thousands of their own troops,” article reads.”

Russia’s heavy losses helped Ukraine maintain its defense, as Russian brigades are weakening and the Kremlin barely has time to recruit new troops. Experts say the reason for the heavy losses is the transfer of recruits to the front “without adequate leadership, training or equipment.”

HOWEVER, Gen.Blather’s comment is most relevant:
“We won’t know what’s going on for real until it happens. We watch the news, listen to the commentary but we are not informed about the myriad problems each side faces at home.
And at home I’d guess Russia is the weaker combatant.”

Gen.Blather: "During the days of the Mongol empire there was a significant battle between (if I recall, Polish) knights and the Mongol horsemen.
The Mongols retreated.
The knights pursued...until they were surrounded and butchered."
I’m not saying that’s what’s going on here, but as Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over ‘till it’s over.”

For at least the past year, it's been pretty much just a war of attrition, where Ukrainians need to inflict at least three-to-one casualties on Russians to be considered "winning".

Overall, Ukrainians have said they inflict about three-to-one casualties on Russians, but that in Russian "Meat Wave" assaults, those casualties can rise as high as ten-to-one.
Since the new Russian front north of Kharkiv, invaded circa May 10, Ukrainians have said they've inflicted six-to-one casualties on Russians.

Overall, Ukraine is roughly the size and population of Texas -- 233,000 square miles, ~40 million people.

  1. By the end of 2022 Russians net-controlled roughly 14%, or 33,200 square miles at a cost of circa 200,000 Russian casualties.
  2. In 2023, Russians took another net ~200 square miles at the cost of 200,000 Russian casualties, or about 1,000 casualties per square mile.
  3. In 2024, so far, Russians have taken another 100 square miles, at a cost of circa 150,000 Russian casualties, or around 1,500 per square mile of Ukrainian territory taken.
At that rate, it will take Russians at least 1,000 years to conquer all of Ukraine, and will consume all of Russia's current population.

Of course, this is only the current situation.
What will happen next month or next year is anybody's guess.

icclearly #13: "The Russians learned well from the Mongols and have eviscerated the Ukie manpower.
What an utterly stupid decision to let the likes of Boris Johnson stop them from ending the SMO after three months."

But who has "eviserated" whom?
Russia has at least three times Ukraine's population and has suffered at least three times the casualties of Ukrainians, especially in the past year.

Admittedly, most Russian casualties came from Russia's non-Russian minority populations, but that means they have suffered disproportionately and may well be growing more... ah... restless if not restive -- Tajikistan comes to mind.

As for Russian propaganda regarding Boris Yeltsin and the alleged 2022 Istanbul Agreement -- it's all lies and nonsense that no one of any integrity should be repeating here, FRiend.

Forward the Light Brigade #15: "Mongols, rolled over Russia, then crushed Poland, advance until they met the Prussian Knights in Germany who stopped them cold.
Poles say they took out the best the Mongols had before they fell.
People forget—Russians lean things on the field of battle.
They are better than they were a year ago.
They are tough fighters who will fight until victory.
The Ukrainians are no slouches but, they are outnumbered.
Unless they get real help like WW III, they will lose.
Time to stop the fighting and make a deal.
Too many have died on both sides."

No, it's not at all clear that Russians are better fighters today than they were a year ago.
Last year (2023) Russians averaged about 1,000 casualties for every square mile they took.
In 2024 they are averaging around 1,500 casualties per square mile taken -- so how, exactly, is that "getting better"?

Despite one arm tied behind their backs, Ukrainians have outfought the Russians in every battle, inflicting massive Russian casualties in exchange for every square mile of lost territory.

At the current rate it will take Russia about 1,000 years to conquer all of Ukraine, and will cost Russia all of today's population.

Here is the bottom line: an unjust "peace" -- which fails to restore Ukraine's 2013 boundaries, does not include reparations for Russia's death and destruction in Ukraine and does not bring Russia's leaders to trial for their war crimes -- such a "peace" will only encourage more aggression from Russkiy Mir against more of its neighbors in the future.

The post misses the point in that the war is no longer really being faught by troops in what is a normal manner.

Ukraine is at present destroying major economic and military assets deep in Russia. Ukraine has now trapped the Russian forces on Crimea and removed their supply lines.

But of real importance are the Ukranian soldiers who assemble drones and using electrical tape and snap ties fasten specifically target explosives. The armed drones then fly guided by GPS to a target selected and watched by another drone. The explosive laden drone can fly through a temporarily open door or window. It can follow and then kill Russians riding on a tank. it can fly into the open of an underground bunker or beneath the elaborate crudity covering a turtle tank. Or, it can drop into a hole in a roof or wall created by another drone specifically to open the building to the second drone.

All this is controlled and created by a 4 or 5 man team operating safely from their bunker while drinking Red Bull and latte.

The videos are so popular they now have their own You Tube channel, Terra. If you want to, they will let you buy a drone to support them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCoCxARDEio&t=365s&ab_channel=TERRAOps

It’s well worth the time it takes to watch. What you will see is the future wreaking havoc on the past

You make good points, which I think are reflected in recent Ukrainian claims that their overall casualty rate against Russia is up from the old three-to-one to now six-to-one in the past two months.

Whether this means one side, or the other, is "winning" or "losing" is a matter of definitions and perspectives, imho, but the question now is whether Pres. Trump can negotiate an honorable peace, or will it be just as disgraceful as Biden's skedaddle from Afghanistan?

I think he can, and I don't think it will be, FWIW.

But I also doubt if the war will really end anytime soon.
Consider -- the US Revolutionary War lasted six years from 1775 to 1781, then another two years of negotiations.
Plus, the Brits never fully withdrew from the US Northwest Territories until after the War of 1812 -- almost 40 years from the Revolutionary War's beginning!

For Ukraine, it's only been two+ years since February 2022.
This could last a lot longer...

think of all the saved lives if they would just end this war.
just freeze the borders where the frontlines are currently!
Russia wouldn’t get all of the states that voted to join them and the Ukes would be getting as much as possible. Every day the Russians capture a few square miles. This is all territory that Z will never get back. Stopping sooner is better.

Mr. Z. Peace plan.
1. All Russians, and people who speak Russian are to leave Ukrainian soil and never return.
2. Crimea to be granted bases for US Navy and UK/ NATO Navy.
3. Putin is to surrender himself for trial for war crimes.
4. Russia is to pay Ukraine 400 Billion dollars to help rebuild Ukraine.
5. Russia must accept Gay people and become woke to Western Values.
6. Russia must give Ukraine free natural gas and oil for twenty years.
7. Russia must pay 100 million to Hunter Biden.
8. Russia must disband her military and junk her Nuke forces so she will never be a danger to world peace.

Neither NATO or Ukraine has invaded a square inch of Russia. So why on earth do you say Zelensky is a Napoleon?

Russia on the other hand... has invaded and ANNEXED parts of Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and the entirety of Crimea... And they have transported nuclear weapons to Belarus - in direct violation with the treaty of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

WHO is the aggressive thief here... the land-grabber... and the nuclear violator here? The evidence is a few inches in front of our faces :
It’s Russia, commanded by short leader Putin.

Only criminal minds support and appease thieves.

Russia must give back what it has illegally stolen.

Only Communist nations actively support Russia today.
And the Islamo-Fascists in Iran support Russia... not a surprise...

I can’t imagine a single Law and Order Republican supporting the North Korea - Russia - Iran Alliance.
If they do, may God have mercy on their souls...

I'm not a Republican, I'm a Conservative.

BTW, when are you jumping on a plane to Kiev, grabbing a rifle and heading to the front lines?

Your globohomo hero, Zelensky, desperately needs you, and ALL your zeeper buddies NOW...sex, age, health, are not factors. Don't let him down. GO!

Fight to the death and every last one of you, to keep the Zelensky/Biden Laundromat in business!

Slavi Ukraini and all that BS.

Zelensky salutes you in advance of your certain, bloody death.

bert: "Trump is convicted of a weaponized law because he thought the weaponizers could be induced to make deals"

That's an interesting comment, which I can't confirm but makes some sense.

What I'm certain is that Trump has learned a lot of lessons and will hopefully be ready to hit the ground running after the November election.

Some of the polls these days are not just unbelievable, they're unimaginable -- 400 electoral votes??!
Plus both houses of Congress?
This could get really sweet, if you're a Trump fan. 😉
