The World Bank has upgraded Russia from an “upper-middle-income” to a “high-income” country with per-capita gross national income (GNI) totaling $14,250 in 2023.
“Economic activity in Russia was influenced by a large increase in military-related activity in 2023,” the international financial institution said Monday.
Russia’s move up the ranks was also boosted by growth in trade (+6.8%), the financial sector (+8.7%), and construction (+6.6%), according to the U.S.-based institution.
“These factors led to increases in both real (3.6%) and nominal (10.9%) GDP, and Russia’s Atlas GNI per capita grew by 11.2%,” it said.

Russia has essentially returned to being the ‘third world’ sh*tehole it once was when the true Commies ran that country.
Making bullets will only take you so far economically.
Interesting how your hot-take is literally the exact opposite of the point of the article.
He’s just another of our cadre of Uke Spooks.
Wonder where world bank is getting their numbers from?
Or maybe it is true since all the meat they have sent to the front are making “huge” money, at least for a bit
Anecdotal, but lots of man on the street interviews asking ordinary Russians about their income, and they don’t agree
But hey who knows
well cowboy...how do you propose we Americans stop our own fast-paced progress to third world shithole status while draining our entire United States of America of cash AND resources to support the third most corrupt nation on the planet, ukraine ...right behind Russia and our own corrupt US of A?
The economic sanctions we imposed on Russia were a fail.
Proceeds from oil and gas sales for Russia's federal budget rose by around 41% year on year in the first half of the year 5.698 trillion roubles ($65.12 billion), finance ministry data showed on Wednesday, due to rising oil prices and the weaker rouble.
Russian oil and gas revenue soars 41% in first half, data shows
That's the understatement I was thinking of too.
Please show us one such interview. Take your time.
What you haven’t been asked?
As I have been told so often by the usuals here on FR when I ask for sources I am told to pound sand I am not your researcher, so….
Imagine RT and Russian MOD, primary sources for you I can tell, have no such content
I have provided links and charts numerous times that demonstrated clearly that Russia’s economy was not being hurt by the “sanctions”. The sanctions forced them to institute changes that have shifted the trading patterns of BRICS associated economies to the point that the US dollar is losing its role as the preferred trading currency for international trade. That is going to have very negative effects on the US economy especially with the massive debt that our government now owes the rest of the world.
While the average American has little understanding of the implications of this situation, foreign creditors especially are well aware of the economic train wreck that is in our future.
Russia’s foreign debt is $284.6 Billion in April of 2024. It was $381.8 Billion in 2023 and $482 Billion in 2022. Because of Biden’s economic policies which have cause an increase in the price of energy... the Russians have been able to pay down their foreign debt even with the “sanctions” and the money they are having to spend on the war in Ukraine.
Post one interview.
Okay I will be kind

Something called HOHLOMAX?
Man, your LOW IQ is locked'n'loaded today, isn't it?
True comrade all is well in muskova
Yep. Plus Russians love to see themselves as victims. This only plays into that ethos and cements support for Putin. The fact is that evil or not, Putin is a smart guy. Certainly smarter than the West’s “leadership” which are for the most part mediocre intellects at best. They’ve achieved power by connections and schmoozing, not competence. If you were to spend an hour talking with Victoria Nuland and her ilk you would find your IQ plummeting. These are not smart people beyond their backstabbing office politics.
Is this one of those Internet “flame wars” that my great-grandfather told me about?
