The Center Square) – More than 87,000 people moved out of Illinois taking with them nearly $10 billion in income, according to the latest Internal Revenue Service data. For the last six years, the total lost adjusted gross income is more than $47.5 billion.
For nearly a decade, annual population estimates from the U.S. Census show Illinois losing population. For well over a year, Gov. J.B. Pritzker has denied the state’s population decline, saying the Census is getting it wrong. In May, he doubled down.
“You should take what I’m saying as truth that actually when we count people, it turns out we’re gaining,” Pritzker said.

87,000 High Wage Earners were “replaced” by 100,000 illegal alien Negative Wage Earners.
Gotta hammer home the Great Replacement Theory, and also the negative wage Earners aspect, because not only do the illegals bring violence, drug, property, and sex crimes, their families drain the social services programs, because illegals do not make wages.
I hear tell the gasoline tax is going up another 2 cents per gallon. We cross from Missouri into Illinois when we visit my wife’s sister in Edwardsville. They live in a very nice area along Route 157, and it got me to thinking that if Edwardsville was not in Illinois, it could be booming like St. Charles county in Missouri.
The obvious answer is to raise taxes in the state to make up for it.

$115,000 per person. Must be White, Asian and/or Indian people.
Well, to be honest, they most likely gained 87,000 illegal migrants, costing them much more than $10 billion to support.
They’ll be fine. They just have to raise taxes.
Is that state income statistics, or income to the state? It comes out to $114,942.53 each.
Correct. Which does not include downstream effects, incidentally. I'll bet the total economic loss to IL is at least double.
They will make it up with the illegals. Just increase their welfare payments to match the lost income!
Probably are gaining population The problem is it’s welfare mooches and illegals
I’d like to see a listing of this for all states.
$114,990 is the average income, not their tax payments.
Or more federal taxpayer money.
How do the other 49 feel about that...
New York loses $1 trillion in Wall Street business as firms flee the city: report
I run into people from Illinois looking to buy property here and move away from Illinois almost every other day. It’s almost becoming more likely to see license plates from Illinois than from Missouri. I just hope they don’t bring their liberalism to Arkansas.
California also invaded by millions of Mexicans, Central Americans and South Americans along with leftist voting Asians who replaced exiting country conservative Americans.
Yes. There are lots of really nice natural areas in S. IL too. Nothing spectacular (although Garden of the Gods has a couple "iconic" views), and no big tourist draws (except for criss-crossing eclipse paths now "done" for a very long time), but plenty of nifty spot to go camping, angling, hunting, etc. Most are usually underused, so, ideal to "get away" / back to nature and have a spot to yourself. The taxes are really hideous, though, and IL doesn't have anything like CA's high tech industry or NY's financial industry. What wealth it does have is mostly being driven out. Like you. :-( Another example is my friend who owns a auto repair business near Chicago, and has done fairly well, but is retiring early and leaving before the state totally kills him with taxes.
We loved downstate Illinois, which is predominantly conservative

“More than 87,000 people moved out of Illinois taking with them nearly $10 billion in income”
Yeah, but those billionaire putzes only moved to a new state and then they just kept right on voting democrat in the new state - potentially causing it to be destroyed too.
People like this are worthless. They are the problem. They move to a new area and the problem just spreads like a cancer.
