DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that a metro Atlanta judge should be removed from the bench after she was investigated for dozens of ethics charges.
The ruling comes days after the judge was arrested at an Atlanta nightclub.
Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson was charged with simple battery against a police officer at the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge on Peachtree Street.
Peterson had already been facing ethics charges bought against her by the Judicial Qualifications Commission in 2022.

Douglas county, Fulton county… I’m sure the rot runs further than those two areas.
She should be in jail for sending a lady to jail for contempt when she tried to amend her marriage certificate, and would only release her once her husband coughed up $500 cash which went right into her pocket.

Remember that not all of those wearing robes have any business being near a courtroom, except perhaps as a defendant.

Is there something above the Georgia Supreme Court that must appeased before the gavel actually falls?

It’s a sad statement of our current legal system. I’m so old that I remember ethics and professionalism was drilled into the students at law school so hard, they were scared to go out for an after exam drink.
And listening to the confirmation hearings for federal judges——yikes! My 15 yr old grandson is smarter and more well-informed than they are. An example is the latest appointee to our Supreme Court. She is not qualified. No where near it.
That’s why I was so disappointed in Judge McAfee’s decision on the Fani Willis disqualification case. He KNEW she should be disqualified and he punted for political reasons.

The jurist had been set to step down from the bench on Dec. 31 after voters recently opted not to elect Peterson to another four-year term, but on Tuesday the Supreme Court of Georgia ruled the jurist be removed from office, effective June 25.
Less than a year into her four-year term, in September 2021, the Judicial Qualifications Commission filed formal charges against her, alleging violations of the Code of Judicial Conduct. The agency amended the charges in February 2022 and again in July 2022, bringing the total to 50 counts of alleged misconduct.
Normally an investigation and the determination does not take as long as this one did, the they had a lot to investigate. Fifty alleged articles of misconduct (new ones kept being filed) and each charge had to be fully investigated.
