WASHINGTON - A recent study has named Gallaudet University as the most dangerous campus in America.
According to data obtained by the Parrish Law Firm from Campus Safety, the D.C.-based university for the deaf and hard of hearing topped the list with a staggering 1,110 incidents per 1,000 students.
The study analyzed various factors, including hate crimes, criminal offenses, and categories under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) reported between 2018 and 2022.
It took into account campuses of different sizes by converting the raw data into the number of incidents reported per 1,000 students. They ultimately determined the rankings based on the highest total number of incidents per 1,000 students.
Among the 1,110 incidents near Gallaudet's campus, 282 were VAWA offenses, which include serious crimes such as domestic violence and stalking.
The university also reported 30 hate crimes, including property vandalism, robbery, and sex offenses.

It’s shocking to see the high levels of crime occurring on campuses across America, particularly the high rates of violent offenses
...
Four New York schools were featured in the top 10 rankings, including Hobart and William Smith College, Union College, St. John's University, and St. Bonaventure University.

Without reading the whole article, I’ll bet I can guess the demographic breakdown of the University pretty closely.
It’s DC and the students are disabled.
Blind, deaf, and limited mobility people are the victims of choice for predators because (in general) they more vulnerable than able bodied people.
DC is an entire city of predators.
The Deaf, probably the only people who actually do suffer from societal exclusion, is last in line.
Compare the billions taxed, donated and spent for “minority discrimination” that ordinarily exists only in the complainant’s race-saturated and inagile mind. Like finding a gate pull down and seeing a “noose”.
The students don’t listen for folks coming up behind them.
Especially in that building up on the hill with the domed roof over its center section.
“DC is an entire city of predators.”
The ones who are not physical enough become congress-critters.
In the NoMa section of DC. Populated by ....Them......
Combination of a sketchy neighborhood and victims who are deaf and possibly gone from area by time a trial occurs.
That is remarkable.
The spinning by the university after the article is hilarious.
They accuse the article of being inaccurate without citing any specific inaccuracy.
Is it in bad taste to say this is a case of “the blind leading the blind”?
;-)
It’s a waste of time to compare number of instances of a crime reported by the campus police. You’ll never get accurate figures from the colleges. Also crimes on campus are frequently not reported to the local police. Apparently Gallaudet didn’t get the word.
CAN'T, not don't.
It’s the main college for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
The other big one is NTID, the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, which is affiliated with RIT, Rochester Institute of Technology. All the classes and degree programs offered at RIT can be sign interpreted for any student who needs it. It’s a great partnership the two have.
Agreed—these are the most honest colleges.
The local urban center college in our state is notorious for hiding their crime issues.
Most technically happen a block or two off campus to students who live in off campus housing since the campus is surrounded by a very bad ghetto on all four sides.
Out of town parents of freshman are in for a big shock when they drive their kids to the school. The last mile of the drive looks like a neutron bomb hit the area leaving only drugged out zombies roaming the streets.
I wouldn’t take that bet. It is the national college for the deaf and blind. It’s just in a crappy location.
Along with New York, Chicongo and Los Angeles.
Maybe you didn’t get my pinball wizard reference: “That deaf, dumb, and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball.” (typed in my best The Who voice)
Let me guess: it’s them again, Yogi.
