Florida is now one of 10 states that has a law limiting or outlawing balloon releases, according to Balloons Blow, a nonprofit organization that advocates against balloon releases.
Balloon releases are popular during memorial services or celebrations of life as a way to commemorate someone who was killed.
Some stores, like Walmart, carry biodegradable balloons for this reason, but Florida’s law wouldn’t allow those kinds of balloons, either. In fact, there are no balloons that meet the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission’s biodegradability requirements, according to a staff analysis.

Keep in mind that the wetlands in Florida are considered about as politically sacred grounds as people in Dim states consider abortion “clinics”.
They join CA, CT, ME, HI, RI, MD, VA, DE and TN.
I noticed it too.
(Chinese) Weather, research and hot air balloons that are recovered after flight would still be allowed.

I hate “balloon releases”. It’s a polluting, wildlife killing practice. Not worth a flash moment of color in the sky, and certainly not a long held tradition like candle lanterns.
Be calm!
FL and TN the only red states in the list?
How about the mylar balloons which cause significant damage, power outages etc. What a dumb azzz idea that was.
You noticed it too?
Oddly, fracking ban, tough as can be environmental laws NY is missing. lol

Great, so now we have to handcuff ourselves to our helium balloons, I guess?
It all ends up as litter. Not to mention the harms it can cause wild and domestic animals.
“Biodegradable” balloons are still needlessly detrimental to animals and the environment.
These laws are more than reasonable.
Might as well ban plastic straws, eh DeathSantis?
Don’t give me this pollution crap either. Balloons are trivial compared to the mountains of trash India produces on any given day.
