A consumer research group surveyed electric vehicle (EV) owners all around the world and found 46 percent of American EV owners regret their purchase and are “very likely” to switch back to the internal combustion engine (ICE).
Around the world, 29 percent of EV owners said they will go back to the ICE. The top concerns are the lack of a reliable charging infrastructure, the costs involved in owning an EV, and anxiety about long-distance trips.
Philipp Kampshoff, leader of the consulting firm Center for Future Mobility, told Automotive News he was surprised by the 49 percent number in the U.S. “I didn’t expect that,” he said. “I thought, ‘Once an EV buyer, always an EV buyer.'”
The research group, McKinsey & Company, spoke to 30,000 consumers across 15 countries and found that:

xoxo, if you are diehard Tesla fan why not get roof solar panels & solar batteries & get net zero & charge your Tesla at Home. BTW, Biden promised tons of charging stations nation wide when he came into Office.
7% market penetration and 50% customer regret......
And what year are they targeting 50% market share?
Uh....NEVER!!!
Compared to what?
That’s what happens when they hire some filthy Wall Street green eye shade gonef instead of a person who came up through the ranks in that specific industry. All greed.
Thanks gitmo for the details!
You hate it now, wait till you drive it.
Don’t forget 10 percent for The Big Guy.
And how many gas stations has the Federal government built... ever? These were always built by companies responding to a market need. Why are we the taxpayers on the hook to build these useless charging stations?
the other half would never admit it
Tks for the thoughtful consolation prize. However my prize is already the Bentley Continental GT W12, Blackline.
You’re renting, not buying a Tesla. As you say, (from what I’ve heard, not experienced) they are fun to drive (faster than stink!) and you are lucky enough to have fast charging nearby. Don’t see you ‘virtue signaling’, you are renting a fun car to drive. Why not?
Nearest fast-charging station to me is two hours away and I am not in the middle of nowhere, just a non-urban area. But owning a Tesla you have to take into account all kinds of costs that a renter doesn’t. Tires wear out fast because of battery weight. Insurance is high because any damage in an accident that possibly damages the battery results the car being totaled. And should they catch on fire...well, you know.
I don’t think the mocking of EVs is necessarily because of how they perform on the road, but the fact that the current government is determined to ram them down our throats (if they are union made) and people tend to resent that.
pony girl, I know! Biden’s Pump & Dump to get elected.
With an EV you can’t enjoy the drive you spend all your time looking for a place to charge it ,LOL
Considering the type of nincompoop who would buy one of these machines, most of the balance of people wouldn’t admit it if they did regret it.

You don’t want a dead battery while you’re inside the EV because you’ll be trapped
Wait until people in CA and WA will be forced to buy them when these two states ban fossil fueled cars.
Dealers won’t take older EVs in trade.
