State legislators and law enforcement are reinstating dormant laws that criminalize mask-wearing to penalize pro-Palestinian protesters who conceal their faces, raising concerns among covid-cautious Americans.
Republican lawmakers in North Carolina are poised to overturn Gov. Roy Cooper’s (D) recent veto of legislation to criminalize masking. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said earlier this month she supports legislative efforts to ban masks on the subway, citing an incident where masked protesters on a train shouted, “Raise your hands if you’re a Zionist. This is your chance to get out.” Student protesters in Ohio, Texas and Florida have been threatened with arrest for covering their faces.
Decades-old laws against masking — often crafted in response to the hooded terror of the Ku Klux Klan — are on the books in at least 18 states and D.C., according to the International Center for Not-For-Profit Law. Lawmakers in some areas passed legislation to create health exemptions during the coronavirus pandemic while other authorities vowed not to enforce the statutes.

Get rid of the masks! Most states have Democrat KKK-related laws banning masks, especially at demonstrations, so they just need to be enforced.
Not long ago the only people to wear masks were kids at Halloween or people trying to hide their identify while committing a crime.
And the Lone Ranger, of course.
When the nonsense first began, I had fun wearing my neckerchief, pretending to be an outlaw like when I was a kid.
Another challenge is these cities need to actually treat arrests as serious matters instead of barely going through the motions. Put them in jail, set hearing next day or later. Let them sit there as long as possible and treat repeat offenders more seriously. And what about people being paid? Any action against those employers?
Sick people may wear masks. Criminals may wear masks. Watch for their actions and then decide who to leave alone and who to arrest.
I love it when the lefty policy bites them in the rear end.

It is kind of fun to watch the moving narrative in the media. “Yes, of course we’ve always been opposed to masks” has to rank up there with “Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia”.
Wearing masks in public was always criminalized - except for certain exceptions !
Alabama banned mask wearing decades ago as an anti-Klan measure.
Halloween and New Year’s were exempt dates.
I can tell you right now, none of the banks I use will allow you to wear a mask inside and they politely ask me to take off my ball cap if it blocks my face. So whats the big deal? the guy in the tire store should be fired, its a tire store, whats she going to do? - on the street rioting, you should be arrested for wearing a mask, no questions asked, tell it to the judge.
I went to a community theater production yesterday. Out of a 200 man audience, there were four doofuses wearing the LOCKDOWN-style mask.
