A tiny baby girl died after being left in the back of a hot car just two months after her adoptive parents took her home as a newborn.
Diana Sofia De Los Santos was found unresponsive in the SUV outside her parents' home in Santee, San Diego, about 12.20am on June 13.
She had been left in the car for several hours in 63F weather when a family member found her and called 911. The baby girl was rushed to hospital but did not survive.
San Diego County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating how Diana was forgotten in the car and who left her there. No charges have been filed.
Studies show temperature inside a car can rise to 104F in just half an hour on a 70F day, and reach 115F in an hour. The body's organs begin to shut down at 107F.
Diana's parents Romer and Jayson De Los Santos took her home on April 11 after flying to Arizona where they met the baby girl in hospital for the first time.
Adorable photos showed them cradling the infant and introducing her to their two-year-old son, who was also adopted, and Diana at home in her crib.
'I haven’t slept in days,' Romer wrote next to one of them.
The couple posted a link to an adoption site profile on social media in November, seeking a second child.
'Our hearts and home are open to providing more love to another amazing child,' they wrote on the profile.
'We want our children to grow up full of memories of playing on the beach, building sandcastles, making friends, biking to the park, going on Hawaiian cruises and learning how to raise foster kittens.'

Second degree murder.
Didn’t intend to happen, but didn’t care enough to ensure it wouldn’t happen.
Here we go, every summer, babies die after being left in a hot car.
Each time, the person leaving the baby in the car should be charged with murder.
“About 37 children die from being left in a hot car every year across the US, including at least 56 in California since 1998...”
“Texas and Florida had by far the most deaths with 142 and 110...”
It does get hot in Texas and Florida, but no excuse leaving the baby in the car.
This article sounds like they are influencers and it was written by their publicists for their “special” life choices.
The writer describes their wonderful pet animals, soft toys in the crib, loving home and caring hearts.
Wouldn’t want to spoil “the narrative” by focusing overmuch on the agonizing death by heatstroke of the tiny helpless baby.
Of course not.
That would be homophobic or some such nonsense.
A lot of adoptees face a lifetime of suffering neglect and abuse after being purchased by narcissistic adoptors with little more than a passing interest in having a baby to use as a prop for their selfish ego.
Charge them with murder, convict them, and then lock them in a car in the hot sun, and leave them there.
“It does get hot in Texas and Florida, but no excuse leaving the baby in the car.”
Negligent Homicide! Put their asses in jail and prosecute. Their jail mates will welcome their presence until they kill them. Put them in general population. They will not like it until they are killed. I have no sympathy.
Let’s see if they get in trouble.
I get in major trouble if leave my dog in the car for 5 minutes, even with the window 1/2 open, and water.
Who approved this adoptions?
Blue hair?
Russia was right: No babies to the mentally defective.
That’s OK, they can just adopt another one. It’s whole different set of rules for queers.
San Diego…I recall reading about a Christian husband and wife, multiple successful fosterings…..who were denied adoption in San Diego because their beliefs were not compatible with an inclusive upbringing. Or some other nonsense.
We adopted three children, all as newborns. If the birth mother has any say (and she generally does and should), these are not the profiles of adoptive parents she would be looking for.
It is HARD to adopt a newborn there are a LOT more loving homes with a would be adoptive mother and father than there are babies.
I have NO idea how these guys seemed to game the system.
Well it appears that certain people with evil intent, have found a way to “dispose” of a Baby who is ...”too haaarrrd to take care of.
Ohhh, the Baby cries or is fussy so let’s go for a ride in a auto on a hot day and claim...Boo HOO look what happened to US.
My God, these people can be EVIL.
It is recommended that in order to avoid forgetting a baby in a car, a parent should place in the back seat with the child some item that they value.
because every body knows the baby itself is valueless. /s
