“About 37 children die from being left in a hot car every year across the US, including at least 56 in California since 1998...”

“Texas and Florida had by far the most deaths with 142 and 110...”

It does get hot in Texas and Florida, but no excuse leaving the baby in the car.

Negligent Homicide! Put their asses in jail and prosecute. Their jail mates will welcome their presence until they kill them. Put them in general population. They will not like it until they are killed. I have no sympathy.

Texas just passed a law that bystanders can break a car window with civil immunity if we see a child locked in a car running or not alone. That’s how much of an issue it is in Texas. Enough to get the Gov to sign a new law for it.

The first thing they teach in carseat DOT class is you never close your driver door or the child’s door at the same time. So it’s impossible accidentally lock them inside. You only close their door while your drivers door is open then you get inside and close your drivers door from the inside. This way it is not possible to lock the kid in with you outside. Now leaving a kid inside closed car is no accident that takes willful action you had to get out and close the door behind you both are purposeful actions.
