Artificial intelligence will result in adults earning a basic income, billionaire Elon Musk said.
AI could lead to a world of self-driving vehicles and other computers and machines that replace humans in work settings and perform virtually all physical and mental labor, Business Insider reported.
When that happens, Musk said adults, regardless of their wealth or employment status, will receive a universal basic income.

With universal income, people are paid to breed.
Professional breeders are undesirables.
Professional breeders represent ballots.
They will have a strong sense of entitlement and will not be satisfied with the minimum income. They will live a life of crime.
Which reminds me, there's some Economists that I would send to the moon, and Friedman is at the top of the list.
No, no, Shirley tell her!!!!
A.I. robots will program themselves. And fix themselves. There's Tesla videos of robots putting other robots together. And robots that program themselves by watching what humans fo. It's scary to see robots imitating humans by watching via video cameras. Like monkey see, monkey do. Only soon we won't be able to do what they do.
Has it been implemented though? Put into practice?
Instead of promoting infanticide and climate change, why can’t the “world’s leaders” teach Africans how to farm and be self-sufficient?
Instead, they encourage them to move to Western nations.
It is a glorified search tool that can arrange search results very quickly, with certain precision, and compare vast amounts of ways tasks have been performed in the past and make a decision of how to do do a current one.
AI cannot reason in the way the human brain does. It can't even do the smallest and simplest thing that the brain can.
Is AI a great tool? Definitely.
Can AI be used in worthwhile ways? Yes.
Will some jobs be displaced? Yes.
But don't ever think it can approach the human brain. That's apples and oranges.
Because of that, there will always be work and value that AI can assist in, but cannot process through to completion like a human does.
Using AI as an excuse for universal basic income is a strawman. I thought Musk was smarter than that.
Friedman supported a negative income tax, under the assumption that the welfare state would be eliminated and taxpayers would have that residual income. He never supported UBI.
IOW exactly what is already happening-
the govt promoting the highest birth rates among those least able to parent while penalizing couples and promoting single moms having more kids.
He 100% supported UBI replacing the current welfare system.
AI is of course in use in Africa.
lol... wilco.
The Star Trek crew had jobs. The bartender in ‘Trouble with Tribbles’ had a job.
7 billion unproductive people will receive UBI from 500 million productive ones? How? With what resources?
I’m looking at this from an Economics and Production perspective, regarding UBI and how AI would act to that end.
Earth has it in the universe of “The Expanse”. It is NOT pleasant...
He’s wrong. AI will further separate the haves from the have nots. It will increase urban unrest. AI replaces middle class jobs, particularly the white collar ones. It won’t, however, replace my roof, take down trees, fix my plumbing or weld my motorcycle frame.
I don’t dislike Musk. But, he was never a conservative, and he still isn’t.
Maybe after they’ve rigged/scammed all the wealth of the west they’ll get to there...
You have asked the correct question.
Created more worthless jobs that just produce ledger entries. Like Medical admin people. Around the time that the PC came out there was a fractional to 1 number of administrative people per actual healthcare provider and now there is about 30-1. Nothing is cheaper, or more efficient, or less deathy...
“The leftists all think that freed from the “drudgery” of work we’ll all be artists - painters, poets, novelists.”
You’ll note that they have spent the last half century glorifying and praising shitty art and literature...
