Queen’s catalog of hits and bestselling albums has been purchased for an eye-popping sum—one that appears to be historic. According to HitsDailyDouble, the rights to the band’s music have been acquired for well north of $1 billion.
Sony Music is the company that agreed to pay that figure, which also includes other rights connected to the rockers. According to Variety, the deal doesn’t feature monies connected to live performances...

If you listened to the radio or any streaming service you would think Queen only made four songs. There is so much more in their albums than Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You (which I can’t stand.)
He considered her his wife. He was closer with her than anyone.
LOL That was my first thought too
You should have seen the 70s:
Me, too! I'm not into that lifestyle or that music. I prefer the Queens to Queen.
Seems like it sometimes.
"What do you mean you don't like Queen? How can you not?"
Earache my eye!

I read the headline 3x and was still perplexed as to why Queen what’s-her-name would have a ‘catalog’ worth a billion $$.
It’s astonishing. smh, in fact.
Agreed, though I do like the EARLIEST VH.
“Queen”, “Queen II” and “Shear Heart Attack” were excellent albums. Some really great songs.
When they did the tribute to Freddy, Phil Collins said that he missed Freddy and he was a basically good guy, but he tried to sleep with every man and woman he could get his hands on and he had to know that wasn’t healthy. The Gay Mafia attacked him for that saying no one had heard of AIDs when Mercury was sleeping around. Which was true, but even then it was know that gay men were at substantially higher risk of every known ATI as well as hepatitis and other serious diseases. Studies have show that gat men even have a higher disease risk than streetwalkers.
Don’t know how much to trust Wiki, but the Wiki article says Queen sold over 300 million albums (this was back when folks actually bought physical media). I don’t understand investing over $1 billion, I didn’t pay that much attention to Queen.
Well isn’t that nice for you.
I was a teenager in the 70s
“My momma talkin’ to me tryin’ to tell me how to live
But I don’t listen to her ‘cause my head is like a sieve
My daddy, he disowned me ‘cause I wear my sister’s clothes
He caught me in the bathroom with a pair of pantyhose
My basketball coach, he done kicked me off the team
For wearin’ high heel sneakers and actin’ like a queen
The world’s comin’ to an end, I don’t even care
As long as I can have a limo and my orange hair
And it don’t bother me if people think I’m funny
‘Cause I’m a big rock star and I’m makin’ lots of money
Money, money, money, money, money, money
Ahh, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
I’m so bloody rich ha ha ha ha
I own apartment buildings and shopping centers ha ha ha ha
And I only know three chords ha ha ha ha”
There, I said it.
You just “Need Somebody to Love”.🎶
+1
The vast majority of Queen’s catalog should be in the public domain by now.
One promoter of the group, whom the group left, once said they’d never amount to anything. He’d did not understand or like the music innovations they were making in their music arrangements.
yes that is very true
IIRC aids was orginaly called a wasting desease of unknow orgin. that was in the 70’s sometime.
Freddy himeself said he wanted to experence everything he could.
Well, I never really liked Elvis or the Big Bopper.
But some folks did/do.
It’s stuff like this that makes the world go ‘round.
But, just to make you happy, I have marked your preference down in my notebook. Thanks for bringing it to everyone’s attention.
