President Joe Biden is preparing for his debate next Thursday with former President Donald Trump as if he were “cramming for a final,” according to a former Biden aide.
The former aide told NBC News that entails Biden talking things through, looking at briefing materials, and writing on cards how he might want to say specific things.
Biden has famously relied on notecards when delivering talking points — and has still been unable to deliver those talking points correctly.
However, Biden will be unable to use prepared notecards during the debate. According to the debate rules, no pre-written notes can be used during the debate.

20 second delay so Biden can rehear everything he needs to say if he says it wrong..remember, Biden already got the debate questions weeks ago..no one has to cram for 1 week to debate unless they are rehearsing answers to questions they already have
I think Biden will as usual lie his ass off and laugh off anything Trump says.
What I’m worried about is that we don’t have a repeat of the Chris Wallace debate where Wallace was constantly cutting Trump off and asking Trump outrageous questions such as demanding he denounce white supremacy while not asking the same of segregationist Joe Biden

I seriously think they’re going to try several ways to get Trump to violate that order, by provoking him through either the questions, or Joe’s pre-arranged answers.

Yep, that’s my guess. But that takes time, so that’s why a whole week’s prep. They have to dose, wait and test and evaluate. And that takes time.
My guess is they have maybe three separate meds they want to try. They already have had tests at other times during his administration they know how it works.
They are shifting his sleep time, so that he doesn’t sundown as early. That takes some time; they probably started it last week.
It probably won’t work well…but they just need to make sure he doesn’t fall down.
How long to get ready for a summit with Putin?
At this point the drugs are marginal at best. There is only so much they can do and if he is sitting it makes him look feeble and weak.
