Breaking! Robert Kennedy Jr. Fails to Qualify for CNN Debate
The New York Times ^ | June 20, 2024 | Chris Cameron

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did not meet the criteria to make the debate stage next week, according to the outlet, denying him the opportunity to confront President Biden and Donald J. Trump.

.........................

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. failed to qualify for the CNN presidential debate on June 27 by the network’s Thursday deadline, according to the outlet, a significant blow to his independent presidential bid that will deny him a coveted national stage alongside President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump.

Mr. Kennedy in a statement on Thursday called his exclusion from the debate “undemocratic, un-American and cowardly.”

Qualifying for the CNN debate, one of two presidential debates scheduled before Election Day, would have been a plum prize for the Kennedy campaign. More than 73 million people watched the first debate between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump in 2020, and Mr. Kennedy would have had the opportunity to confront his opponents in front of an extensive national audience.

No third-party or independent presidential candidate has been on the national debate stage since 1992, when the Texas billionaire Ross Perot’s self-funded campaign gained enough momentum to earn him a spot alongside President George Bush and Gov. Bill Clinton of Arkansas in three debates in the final weeks before the election.

That is not the strategy. The strategy is to force the election into the house of representatives.

I think Bob Kennedy would’ve probably done very well and wiped the floor with both Trump and Biden. There’s no reason that Kennedy should not have been included in the debate. He’s running a pretty credible campaign. He is on the ballot in something like 23 or 25 states already. I suspect both parties did what they could to keep him from being able to participate.

MAGA should be doing everything possible to get RFK, Jr. on the ballot on every solid Blue State where Biden was expected to win. Where Trump can't win, MAGA should vote for RFK, Jr. to deny that state's EV to Biden, and the same for Senate candidates running under RFK, Jr. It's called a strategic vote, and that is necessary considering the fraud in the "battleground states" run by Rats and RINOs. The battleground must be expanded in 2024.

All candidates have to be on the ballot in enough states to get 270 electoral college votes, and have 15% in four polls. He doesn’t meet the criteria.

When have third party candidates been in a nationally televised debate with the candidates from the GOP and Democratic parties? It’s not like he’s being singled out

Let him debate. I would love to see it. He’s right. It is un-Democratic.

criteria to participate in the debate is in the NYT article:

https://archive.ph/xxNXB

RFKJ has zero chance of winning 270 electoral college votes because he’s made the ballot in only 6 states, so totally pointless to include someone with zero chance of winning the Presidency ... there’s also another handful of no-chance candidates who’ve also announced ... to include any of them turns the whole thing into a ridiculous circus and would take away most of the debate time from the only two candidates who matter ...

I don’t think they’re allowing an audience.

Yes, I remember that, and the great sucking sound. But the fact that it was 32 years ago tells how rare a circumstance it is.

I dont like this exclusion stuff regardless who it is.

Me either.

Here's what the rule should be: if a candidate is on the ballot in enough states so that that candidate could win 270 or more Electoral College votes, then he/she should be invited to debate. Let's hear what the man has to say!

uh, that IS in fact CNN’s debate criteria ... and JFKJ is ballot-qualified in only six states ...

Agree

what happened to the womens league? They should never have accepted the commission on debates.

Reagan had a famous moment when he said “I PAID FOR THIS MICROPHONE!” meaning he invested his time and donations into running a campaign and therefore had the right to speak and debate.
