Alec Baldwin was sloppy and reckless with firearms on the set of “Rust” before the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, prosecutors have contended.
According to court documents obtained by ETonline, the 66-year-old leading man engaged in “horseplay” during firearm training, including one instance when he fired a blank round at a crew member, whom he’d been using to establish his line of sight. Prosecutors further alleged Baldwin was also “erratic and aggressive” during filming, contributing to safety concerns on set.
Baldwin would also allegedly use his prop firearm as a pointer, relying on it to acknowledge and direct different people while filming. Prosecutors in their latest filing additionally accused him of firing the weapon on at least one occasion despite the fact that “cut” had already been called.
Baldwin was rehearsing a scene inside the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, N.M., when he mistakenly shot Hutchins on Oct. 21, 2021. He was seated in a church pew, practicing a move in which he whips a pistol from its holster, when it suddenly went off. The film’s director, Joel Souza, was also struck in the shoulder.
Earlier this year, “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Hutchins’ death and was ordered to spend 18 months in jail.
Baldwin, who has long insisted he did not pull the trigger prior to the deadly gunfire, is meanwhile scheduled to go to trial on July 9 in Santa Fe, where he will also face a count of manslaughter. Prosecutors have also said Baldwin, who served as a producer for “Rust,” often ignored Gutierrez-Reed when she was providing him instruction, and that he would often rush cast and crew to keep them as close to on schedule as possible.
What’s more, when filming resumed on “Rust” after the deadly gunfire, this time in Montana, prosecutors day Baldwin insisted on not being held to industry safety standards.
If convicted, the Emmy-winning actor faces up to 18 months behind bars.
Dude, please stay away from guns. You clearly have no clue.
Gun Safety Rule #2: Treat every weapon as loaded, even if you are 100% certain it is not. This is because no matter how certain you are, in the whatever chance you are mistaken, that mistake can cause immediate death or disabling injury. Simple rule to follow, even for an actor.
Gun safety doesn’t change based on the “environment”. In fact, it’s heightened here because they are known functioning weapons and he directly aimed it at his filmographer. Wasn’t even part of a scene.
Dude, never make a movie, you clearly have no clue whatsoever! LOL
Boy aren’t you clueless
“Alec killed Halyna Hutchins who was exposing pedophila in Hollywood.”
So this was a planned assassination?
He admitted to the shooting during an interview. Baldwin said he pulled the hammer of the gun back and let it drop. THAT has the same effect of “pulling the trigger”, which he constantly says he did not do. Same results
Let’s hope so. I also hope they get all of the money he has, too.
“Baldwin said he pulled the hammer of the gun back and let it drop.”
My dad had a single shot .22. He said that I could use it when I was able to pull back the hammer and then let the hammer back down safely (with my thumb, one handed while holding the rifle). I was about 8 years old when I was able to do that and shoot with him. By the next year I was off on my own terrorizing the squirrels at the cabin.
This must be the first thread on this you have seen if you are starting totally from scratch.
Barbara Walters to Corey Feldman – you will damage the entire industry.. exposing the rampant pedophilia in Hollywood ... the people that did this to both me and Corey Haim are still working, are still out there. They’re some of the richest, most powerful people in this business,” Feldman explained. “And they do not want me saying what I’m saying right now.”
Feldman and fellow ‘80s star Corey Haim have been vocal about the abuse they faced and claimed that they were “passed around to pedophiles,”
“Baldwin, who has long insisted he did not pull the trigger...”
Everyone knows it was Trump that pulled the trigger. He was found guilty of it in one of the 32 felony charges, I’m sure of it!
🙄🙄🙄
Also that actor who jokingly put it to his own head and pulled the trigger.
Jon Eric Hexum, I believe.
Yep.
“Dude, never make a movie, you clearly have no clue whatsoever!”
I do, and Tony’s right. You’re wrong. Actors certainly have to follow safety protocols. They can be held civilly and criminally liable just like anyone else.
It’s not necessary to point a gun at someone on a film set in order to create the illusion of pointing a gun at someone.
Baldwin as both the actor who pulled the trigger and as an executive producer who is a PGA member (and not merely an investor) is doubly liable for his actions and failures on the set of Rust.
A horse’s ass doing horseplay? Whaaat?
A fine, if terrible example of why we shouldn’t listen to Hollywood for guidance!
I can buy that. He hires technicians to ensure the weaponry are safe to use on the set.
But it was he who was responsible for hiring these evidently unqualified people.
Maybe a case of an DEI hire to score points with BlackRock or similar?
Was he drunk at the time?
Just to be accurate, they weren't filming a scene; they were rehearsing it and planned to film it the next day.
