Juneteenth is yet another Biden payoff: Another federal holiday is a costly proposition

It’s akin to everything that Biden has done domestically to buy his way to a second term. (Biden? Second Term? Really?) Very few Americans -- black, white, or indifferent -- have a clue what the mid-June holiday is.

Its off-putting, cutesy title and wandering appearance in June (on a Wednesday, right?) doesn’t really clarify the point of it. It is a safe bet that if CNN wandered around the streets of D.C., or anywhere, asking folks what event in ‘history’ Juneteenth respects, the empty stares and open mouths would astound.

Tomorrow’s ‘holiday,’ we can probably confirm, has something to do with Biden’s DEI priorities, which is to say, his priorities for keeping his Left and his ‘Liberals” in the Democrat fold — or the stock pen.

It also has to do, yet again, with “civil rights” and “slavery.” O.K. Fair enough.

But, given the fact that the Left has been busy under Biden tearing down the history of our country via renaming and destroying monuments — and so on -- how can the American people be supposed to track on what actually happened, anonymously apparently, sometime in June in more than a century past?

No matter. Another strong point in favor of Juneteenth — in fact, its only practical application, is that it provides Biden’s immense bureaucracy/voting bloc with another paid holiday. There is no interest group in the U.S. that has close to the perks now enjoyed by the federal bureaucracy. And mind you, these holidays are doled out — by monetary association -- to the banks, too, and the universities, and many other domestic cohorts who feed on the udders of the feds — which is to say, feed on our burgeoning taxes.

It is a good holiday, fair, and due for our original African-American citizens, freed by Lincoln and the Republican party.

Next, we don't have any federal holiday in March, April, and August.

I vote for St. Patricks Day in March.

Easter for April?

August?

Then we'd have at least one federal holiday every month of the year.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke to CBS’ Margaret Brennan on Sunday (June 5, 2020) to discuss the riots.

Brennan tried to get Rice to admit that the Trump Administration’s failure to contain the lawlessness here is signaling weakness abroad and putting the U.S. in danger.

“Madam Secretary, you know, some of America’s adversaries, Russia, Iran, China, they are using the images of what happened to Mr. Floyd and what is happening in the streets of American cities right now in their own state propaganda. Do you see this racial divide as a national security threat to us?” Brennan asked.

Rather than providing the desired response, Rice replied: (emphasis mine)

Well, I’ve always thought that America’s greatest strength is that we are a country where you can come from humble circumstances and do great things, and where, despite our painful history, we’ve worked harder and harder every day, brick by brick, to build a more perfect union for all of us. And I would say to those, particularly in places like China and Russia and Iran, who may want to use this for propaganda, let’s not be absurd.

This is not Tiananmen Square where you’ve mowed down people who disagreed with the government. This is not the invasion of Crimea where you took land from your neighbor. This is not the Green Revolution in Iran where you killed people wantonly because they wouldn’t agree with the theocratic government.

Rice continued, “And I would even say to our friends abroad, in places like Europe, where I’m seeing demonstrations in support of what is happening here, thank you for your support, but please look in the mirror. Please ask yourself, in countries in Europe and countries all across the world, what are you doing about racial and ethnic inequality in your own circumstances? America has gotten better because we have been willing to confront our problems. And we’re going to confront our problems again. We’re confronting them now.

“But I really don’t need to be lectured by Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping about peaceful protest when they have themselves used their own force just because people wanted to criticize the government. That is not what is happening here,” she added.

My advice to my fellow FReepers on how to get through this ‘Juneteenth’ thing is as follows: Remember, and dwell on, two important things: 1) June 19th is also National Martini Day. Gin and Vermouth are both pretty cheap, so you got no excuse. and 2) Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were both executed on this date in 1953. They were a husband and wife Russian spy team who were tried and convicted of Espionage for giving American atomic bomb secrets to the Russians. Aaah for the good old days. Anyway, just dwell on those two things, and you'll make it through tomorrow okay.
