President Joe Biden called for Congress to ban bump stocks just hours after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down the ATF’s ban on the firearm accessories.
Biden did this via a post to X, where he wrote: “Today’s Supreme Court decision strikes down an important gun safety regulation. We know thoughts and prayers are not enough. I call on Congress to ban bump stocks, pass an assault weapon ban, and take action to save lives – send me a bill and I will sign it immediately.”
A longer statement from Biden was attached to the X post. That statement said in part:
Notwithstanding this decision, my Administration will continue to take action. I took on the NRA and signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the most significant gun violence reduction legislation to pass Congress in nearly 30 years. My Administration established the first ever White House office of Gun Violence Prevention, made historical investments in mental health to support people in times of crisis, and expanded background checks to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.
He ended the statement with a call for more gun control.

Biden seems to tell everyone to ignore SCOTUS rulings when it doesn’t fit his agenda just like he does.
That’s Joey for you: advocate for the ‘right’ to kill babies, which is not enumerated in the U.S. Constitution/Bill of Rights, but want to kill my right to own a firearm, which IS enumerated there.
Except that the Supreme Court didn't find the ATF's regulation "unconstitutional." Rather, the Court ruled that the regulation was contrary to the plain language of the pertinent provisions of the National Firearms Act of 1934. Those are two different things entirely. Congress is not without authority to change the language of the National Firearms Act to prohibit bump stocks.
In his separate opinion, Justice Alito said exactly that:
"There is a simple remedy for the disparate treatment of bump stocks and machineguns. Congress can amend the law—and perhaps would have done so already if ATF had stuck with its earlier interpretation. Now that the situation is clear, Congress can act."
The only thing the government cares about is the government.

Too bad, Joe. There are more than 200,000 bump stocks out there already, and doubtless many tens of thousands more will be sold before you could even get Congress to lift the finger on this issue, IF they would even do so. That makes bump stocks ineligible for the designation of “dangerous and unusual“ since the Caetano case in 2016 made 200,000 a dividing line between being in common use or not, and thus they CANNOT be banned.

The entire point of the ruling was that the regulation itself was unconstitutional because it changed the law. The BATF is part of the executive branch, and cannot change the law - only Congress can pass a bill, and then send it on to the president to change the law. Alternatively, if the president vetoes a bill that has been passed, Congress can override that veto. But executive agencies cannot change the law by themselves. That is what this decision rested upon, not the constitutionality (or lack thereof) of any law or regulation limiting bump stocks. The Supreme Court did not even need to touch the second amendment issues in order to rule this regulation as violating the constitution.
If someone stuck a bump stock in this weasel’s mouth, I wouldn’t complain.
Rat weasels don't care about laws or the constitution. Never have, never will. They only use it to their advantage instead of using them as guidelines and hard stops against their usurpation.
Bump stocks do not turn automatics into machine guns...you are just able to increase the trigger time. It's still....boom boom boom....not boomboomboom.
