Hamas seeking US guarantees over Gaza ceasefire plan, sources say
Jerusalem Post ^ | JUNE 12, 2024

Negotiators from the US, Egypt and Qatar have been trying for months to mediate a ceasefire and free the hostages, more than 100 of whom are believed to remain captive in Gaza.

Hamas wants written guarantees from the United States for a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip in order to sign off on a US-backed truce proposal, two Egyptian security sources said.

Mediators Qatar and Egypt said Hamas had responded on Tuesday to the phased ceasefire plan for an end to the eight-month war between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist group, without giving details.

The plan was made public at the end of May by US President Joe Biden. It includes the gradual release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza and pullback of Israeli forces over two phases, as well as the freeing of Palestinian prisoners, with the reconstruction of Gaza and return of the remains of deceased hostages in a third phase.

The United States has said Israel accepted the proposal, but Israel has not publicly stated this.

The Egyptian sources and a third source with knowledge of the talks said Hamas had concerns that the current proposal does not provide explicit guarantees over the transition from the first phase of the plan, which includes a six-week truce and the release of some hostages, to the second phase, which includes a permanent ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal.

The Egyptian sources said Hamas would only accept the plan if the guarantees were in place, and Egypt was in contact with the US about the demand.

"Hamas wants reassurances of an automatic transition from one phase to another as per the agreement laid out by President Biden," the third source said.

Just how is the US supposed to guarantee anything? Given the success of multinational forces in the Sinai and Lebanon, success from the perspective of the terrorists, presumably Joe's idea is a non starter.

They want us to fly top cover for them? Like we did in Syria? Like we did in Libya? Maybe they would like some airstrikes on Tel Aviv.

This is not chutzpah, It’s CHUTZPAH on steroids.

Close to half the remaining hostages are dead. Time to move in and finish the job ASAP.

It’s simple- Israel just tells them “You don’t shoot at us, we won’t shoot at you, and it starts as soon as you release all hostages”

Hamas wants a one-sided cease-fire.

Yes, the one that counts. Still the interests of the US, Hamas, Qatar and Egypt are all being considered.

While the pack of Islamofascist mass-murderers and terrorists are insisting on guarantees, there will be no agreement (Hamas doesn't make agreements anyway), which means Israel can and will continue to hunt them down and destroy their capabilities. Complete annihilation of their personnel is a valid response to what has happened in the decades since Hamas was formed, indeed the same should be meted out to all PLO a-holes.

what audacity these mass murdering nazis have

to ask their principal patron funder and protector for additional guarantees just because they are responsible for thousands of deaths in the last few months

I’ll give these Agents of Satan a guarantee. TO repatriate them directly home to Hell where they belong!

This is just more of the same bunk from Hamas. The only one that has broken previous “permanent” cease fires is Hamas.

Hamas took political control from the PLO and turned Gaza into a massively armed terrorist state. They then started shooting missiles into Israel. The world demanded that Israel only act defensively and shoot down the missiles. Whenever Israel attacks, the Palestinian Arabs (my preferred term to Palestinians), since they called themselves Arabs up until 1967), scream for a cease fire and then demand the return of hundred of their terrorist buddies in exchange for a single Israeli, or a dead body.

Things changed on October 7th, 2023, but the response from the Muslim nations remained the same. Hamas launched a ground assault into Israel, kill 1,200 people and kidnapped 251 multinational people from a Peace Concert. Hamas killed men, women, and children in their assault, and then fled back to Gaza carrying the 251 kidnapped people of different nationalities (not just Israeli). Hamas then hid kidnapped individuals underground, among their civilian population, under hospitals, and in residential areas.

Once Israel starts going into Gaza, the world screams stop, and accuses Israel of war crimes against civilians. This scenarios has played out continually over many years. The Muslims attack, Israel responds, and the world at large blames Israel for responding to the attacks, and the Muslim world declares that Israel should be wiped out entirely, for daring to respond.

Socialist of all stripes side by rioting throughout the west. The strange thing about this is that the majority of socialist would be wiped out in Muslim countries for voicing their ideas. Stalin would have referred to them as “Useful Idiots”. Hitler did the same thing during the Weimar Republic era and then threw them all into concentration camps once in power.

The original Palestinian Mandate (originally ruled by the Ottoman empire prior to WWI) was intended for the establishment of a Jewish homeland. The British were given the responsibility to carry out the mandate, but then gave two thirds of the land meant for the Jewish homeland to a Saudi Prince, and name the area as the “Emirate of Transjordan”.

The remaining one third of the original mandate area should have be given to the Jews, but Arabs protested, the British reneged, and not until after WWII did the UN try to address the problem again.

In 1948 the Jews said they would accept what the UN was willing to give. The Arab armies attacked declaring whatever Islam had conquered in the past still belongs to Islam (by the way they still believe that Spain, and large portions of Eastern Europe should be under Muslim control). Israel was able to prevail, but lost control of part of the remaining mandate to the Arab armies that attacked the new state.

Jordan occupied Judah (where Jesus was born), and Samaria (the area originally ruled by Israel's Northern Kingdom), and occupied what became the eastern part of Jerusalem. This included the Temple Mount (where two Jewish Temples originally were located, prior to Rome destroying the city in 70 AD).

Transjordan renamed itself “Jordan”, since Transjordan meant across the Jordon (not including Judah, Samaria, or Jerusalem). This area became known as the West Bank. In 1967 Israel gained control of the part of the Palestinian Mandate meant to be part of its homeland. Strange thing the Quran states that Israel belongs to the Jews (Muslim politics dictate something else).

Eventually Jordan renounced ownership (following the 1967 war), and after the “Arab Palestinian” population in Jordan rebelled against the king, and tried to take over Jordan.

Hamas’ founding documents state they cannot accept the existence of Israel. Most Muslim terrorist groups founding documents, including the Palestinian Liberation Organization state the same thing. Get them to renounce their founding document, and then maybe, just maybe a conversation can happen. As Golda Meir stated, “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”

Hamas had a civilian family house three hostages in their home in a residential area, guarded by 200 Hamas soldiers. Israel commandos kill the 200 soldiers and rescued four hostages (one from a separate building). The headlines were that Israel killed 200 Palestinians during the rescue, and condemned them for the act of freeing the hostages.

So another quote from Golda seems appropriate, “The world hates a Jew who hits back. The world loves us only when we are to be pitied.”

If a ceasefire is agreed to, Israel should require, inter alia, two absolute ironclad conditions; release or evidence of the status of every hostage taken on Oct 7, or being otherwise held by Hamas, and an understanding that the firing of one rocket into Israel from Gaza nullifies the entire agreement.

Let the US sign whatever they want to sign. As long as Israel is not a signatory, they are not bound by it.

The real solution to a ceasefire will be to send in a third country military to enforce laws within Gaza that is so dreaded that the Palestinian people will behave, and Hamas terrorists will not rearm. The first thing that such a military group would need to do is build huge and horrible prisons in a very public way to let the Palestinian people know that they are serious. While the prisons are being built martial law and curfews with shoot to kill orders need to be imposed, again so people understand things are now different.

The problem will be that both Iran and the outside financial supporters of Hamas will try to corrupt and bribe such a military force.

Oh, and by the way, that means no more UN aid or humanitarian groups should be allowed into Gaza as they have been a front for Hamas for decades.

Israel is correct, in that they need to not stop killing members of Hamas until all of Hamas is destroyed as a viable organization.

The Russians had a solution to the Chechen problem. They put Ramzan Kadyrov in charge. There’s a lot of autonomy in Chechnya but at the end, they have to wave the Russian flag and hang up a portrait of Vladimir Putin in every governmental building in Chechnya.
