George H.W. Bush at 100: The last WASP president
The Hill ^ | 06/12/2024 | ELIOT WILSON

Posted on 06/12/2024 7:25:57 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

Today marks the centenary of the birth of George Herbert Walker Bush, 41st president of the United States. With one exception — his eldest son in 2004 — he is the last Republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote.

He was a remarkable man in many ways, having been decorated as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II, and his resume before the presidency was broad. After becoming a successful oil executive, he was a two-term congressman, unsuccessful candidate for the Senate, ambassador to the United Nations and to China, chairman of the Republican National Committee and director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Bush seems now a figure of a truly bygone age. He was a relatively low-key vice president to Ronald Reagan by choice rather than imposition, learning from his Democratic predecessor Walter Mondale that being effective as VP in Washington owed a lot to avoiding conflict with White House staff and cabinet secretaries. He was also aware that the previous Republican vice president, Nelson Rockefeller, had become mired in disputes with other members of the administration by trying to insert himself into the decision-making process.

Was with family and heard this speech. Many who fought the Nazis in the secret war behind the lines. “New World Order” immediately brought to mind one Adolf Hitler, who used the term for the coming lebensraum Reich that justified demonic terror to do it, and then killed his sorry a@@.

No, this id’d the globalist clowns in action bush— really a disaster who dismantled the Reagan successes in opportunity and Freedom.

Yep. Evil isn’t supposed to win, but lately it seems to be.

Pretty examples of when "evil" won. The barbarians during the fall of Rome. The conquest by the Mongols.

We're no different, really. Maybe with Gen Z, America will turn Hamas.

Yeah- those were some really “important” links— through his crazed, warped mom and his swinger grandparents who introduced their daughter to Frank Marshall Davis. Empty, void people, and then the muslims of Indonesia warped him some more. Whatever— he’s no WASP in any case and his “education” was paid for by the House of Saud. Finis.

The way things are going, it wouldn’t surprise me.

Seems like the “break” happened with Julius Caesar vs. the dying out elite (that cultural/political split which was driven by the criminals who financed the Julians through the Aventine and wheat). So long ago and they did not have a Constitution such as we, designed to escape the European Monarchism (which Rome preceded by many centuries of course).
Then Pompey vs. Mark Antony... what a story. The end— far reaching Roman Empire “citizens” swooped down to destroy the entire place and the fabric that held that system together.

The American Republic (or is it now Empire?) will meet a similar fate.

We each and every one must fight this with all Constitutional and personal powers. What American Citizens must do- to still be citizens in a free country. Going to re-read William Shirer’s Berlin Diary for the sake of examining the rise from Bismarck’s socialist buy offs to crazed National Socialism (which was rooted in Marx and Communists which the Kaiser supported in deposing the last Romanov- his own cousin. Seems impossible but there it is).

You may have read the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.

The collapse of the West is coming soon. The world will enter in a period of dark ages. So we need to preserve the knowledge of our ancestors so we will get to rebuild quicker after the collapse.

The potato thing was skewed by the media. Not what really happened.

The same with Bush and the grocery scanner.

Never believe left wing narratives.

[Turns out he’s British.]

There’s a type of Brit who combines broad generalization in a supercilious tone with slapdash work. This essay is a fine example. It has to be said, however, that at Internet era piece rates, The Hill likely did not pay enough for a fully-researched article.

Be careful with Shirer. He was a journalist, not an objective one. Nor was he a historian.
His work was, if you ask me, an early case of „advocacy journalism“, which, as another wise Freeper wrote, used to be called „propaganda“.

The fact that he was a fanatic Germanophobe, alongside the other assorted honorable (?) members of the „Society for the prevention of WW III“, doesn‘t help either.

He was what might be called a „Sunday-afternoon writer“ - and about Germany he and his despicable fellow writers, Rex Stout, H.T. Tetens, Eleanor Roosevelt and others of similar ilk, are about as reliable as Howard Zinn and N. Chomsky are on American history.

Yes, you can always tell an ideologue, but you can never tell him much, as the old saying goes.

The 1989 movie series “The Nightmare Years” was a jumped up version of elements of the Berlin Diary (which does read pretty well and the projections/prognostications pretty on point. He pretty well defined the Commie vs. National Socialist “spectrum” and finagled a lot of info right out from under Goebbels and the OKW.)- the movie tried to convey he was a “cutout” info agent for US Naval Intelligence in Geneva. None of that is in the “Berlin Diary”. Shirer had a falling out with his friend Edward R. Murrow after the war, and think that Murrow was not all he seemed- for sure. Especially as regards Paley at CBS.

Just as Hemingway knew all about Philby (Orwell wrote about this) when in theatre in the Spanish Civil War— Philby being a Stalinist agent long before he became DC MI-6 head...full time Commie spy. As far as is known Hemingway never let the Brits or our OSS know Philby was burrowed in. The intrigue of Franco’s lacky covered in “the Diary”, makes clear that Franco did not “bond” with hitler, and the Nazis could not drag Spain into the Axis no matter how hard they tried. Franco did not like Socialists or Communists. Interesting stuff.

To set up obamaumao’s muslim insertions. Disgusting really— the fakeness of it all. The Reagan appointees were solid— a bulwark against all the coming crap. Look what we’re dealing with now— freaking Merrick Garland? And Wray?

Trump is a WASP and won the popular vote...they just stole it by claiming he didn’t.

“Do wonder why joebama the “genius” present-dent looked at his watch when “honoring” our dead military at the Dover AFB national reception center. Did he have a barber appointment or something pressing. He’ll never remember it now.”

He wanted to get back to the White House to continue binge watching Toddlers in Tiaras.
