A jury has awarded more than $1.1 million to an Idaho drag performer who accused a far-right blogger of defaming him when she falsely claimed that he exposed himself to a crowd, including children, during a Pride event in June 2022.

The Kootenai County District Court jury unanimously found Friday that Summer Bushnell defamed Post Falls resident Eric Posey when she posted a doctored video of his performance with a blurred spot that she claimed covered his “fully exposed genitals,” the Coeur D’Alene Press reported.

In reality the unedited video showed no indecent exposure, and prosecutors declined to file charges.

“The judicial system did what needed to be done,” Posey said after the verdict.

Jurors awarded Posey $926,000 in compensatory damages for defamation. Because Posey proved that Bushnell knew her allegations were false when she made them or that she made the accusations with reckless disregard for the truth, the jury awarded $250,000 in additional punitive damages.

Posey, who uses the stage name Mona Liza Million, performed three times at the Pride in the Park celebration wearing a long-sleeve leotard, black shorts and tights, with a shiny metallic boa around his waist. He did not remove clothing.

The courts find a lot of things some of them might even be moral and correct but not this one or those against Trump and the J6'rs or the grand mothers that have been sentenced to terms in prison for praying in front of the murder clinics. That's the most clearly worded verse, but beyond that, we have the example of what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah, and what the combined tribes of Israel did to the Benjamites in the Battle of Gibeah.

There are other verses in the bible that condemn it, but I have forgotten what they are. I believe there is a new Testament verse that also condemns it.

Thank y’all for making sense-the EEOC came about in around 1968. As a case worker in the public sector from 1976 to 1985, I never saw any mentally ill person-whether heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, trisexual or whatever-committed or institutionalized unless they were an immediate danger to themselves and/or others and had been adjudicated incompetent by a judge or court of law. I’ve also read/heard that before the mid 60’s, people with lots of money could buy judges to commit people-even lobotomize them-to get rid of them-I read that JFK’s parents did that to his sister.

As a workers comp case manager in the private sector, I know that is still the case-unless the person meets that criteria,any persons mentally ill, retarded, or otherwise mentally impaired have the same rights as everyone else-personally, in employment, etc, until or unless they are committing a crime. I may not always agree-gays are just about the worst clients for constant whining and faking comp injuries you can imagine-but those are the rules and have been for many decades-all our working lives for most of us...

Also, I can’t seem to find anywhere in my Bible (New revised standard version) that we are supposed to just kill people for being mentally ill/homosexual, etc rather than avoid them and their craziness-it says their acts are abomination-it does not say to kill them.

Perhaps she should appeal on grounds that the plaintiff’s actions and demeanour had the same effect as exposure and any reasonable person would not want to see young children exposed to his/her public act, as he/she intended (this was not done in confines of a club not admitting children).

That’s a question of fact, and so could only be raised at trial. The only grounds for appeal are questions of law, such as errors committed by the judge.

A minor incident happened in town and the local internet chat group was all abuzz.

I happened to meet one of the people involved and got a different viewpoint of what was talked about on the chat. I could not condemn or endorse either person’s actions based on what I know. (Well - a little bit of thinking both people were in the wrong.)

It DID help reinforce the way I handle similar situations to prevent conflict. More people do seem to be wound up tight and can freak out over what I consider minor things.
