Fantastic report, enjoy that martini. Your description of the weather/climate in Eilat reminds of where I am in Vegas. Our swimming pools are about 72 degrees but they feel like freezing water when your body is acclimated to 109 degrees.

Based on open sources, it sounds like Uncle Miltie was on a Sa'ar 5 class corvette, several of which were built in the US based on Israeli designs. They are now based at the Eilat Naval Base in the Red Sea.

The Sa'ar 5 corvettes are small and with aging hulls, but they are well maintained and kept current to Israeli needs, with a suite of first rate missile types and world class electronic warfare capabilities. They are potent littoral patrol and warfare vessels. Uncle Miltie is right to be impressed.
