The Trump hush-money criminal trial verdict is in—and it's guilty. What does it mean? And what's next?
In the debut episode of my new show—Straight Down the Middle—I will walk you through it all. As a professor of law, one-time federal prosecutor, and constitutional law scholar, I have over three decades of experience with complex constitutional issues and I want to share everything I know with you and how it applies to the issues we see in the real world.
In this episode, I walk through The Basics of the Trump verdict, The Constitutional Issues facing the conviction, and the Next Steps.
Chapters:
0:00 Intro
0:48 The Basics
7:45 The Constitutional Issues
16:28 Next Steps
22:37 Outro

SCOTUS will hope the NY Court of Appeals will toss the verdict.
Trump will be in prison during the election.
This is a very good presentation with a new twist I hadn’t heard. President Trump is not legally a “convicted felon” until Merchan enters the verdict, which probably will happen at the time of sentencing.
In the meantime, SC could issue a stay on that until the case is appealed because of the “irreparable harm” such an entering the verdict would mean while appeals are heard.
I’d love for the jury to see this video.
Plus everyone here ... to be forwarded to others, too.
Excellent video. Thanks for posting.
Backhanded kudos to the Leftists for making this case so badly and so murkily every step of the way that it will take some time to unravel and undo.
It looks like it will likely come down to SCOTUS, after several layers of courts have gone through the process. Will they have the political fortitude to hear the case in time for Trump to continue his campaign effectively?
Ordinary voters are not going to care to understand the nuances and subtleties here while the appeals process works out. All they will hear from the media is that that “Trump is a convicted felon” and, quite possibly, “sitting in a jail cell”, replete with pictures of Trump being perp-walked in an orange jumpsuit.
That’s will inflame us, but to the undecided voter, it’s not a good look.
The proposal is not to go directly to the Supreme Court. It is to sue Bragg and others and ask a Federal Judge to issue a temporary restraining order halting Judge Merchan from entering a judgment of guilt until the Federal court has an opportunity to review and rule on the serious Constitutional arguments that exist in this case.
I don’t know the likelihood of it being successful, but it would probably be worth a try.
Roberts is scared silly about involving the Supreme Court in the election. Could it be that Jack Smith prosecutor (Mary McCord) husband (Sheldon Snook) works for Roberts?
I bet if you canvased that jury and ask each of them in isolation what they found President Trump guilty of in each of the 34 counts, they couldn’t tell you.
Yes, I should have written federal court, not SC.
The tension here is due to the hostility of the venue. Merchan could just be corrupt enough to go maximum in sentencing, and Trump could end up in the bottom of Riker sewer.
The pressure this would put on the system would then begin the wheels to start creaking into motion.
Organizations and governments are really just the assembly of thousands of cowards.
I think they are scared TO NOT CLEAR IT UP.

This sounds like an accurate and lawful summation of the legal issues. I’m surprised it hasn’t been deleted yet.
That’s a whole lot of hopium.
