After his historic guilty verdict in his hush money case, Donald Trump attacked the U.S. criminal justice system, making unfounded claims of a “rigged” trial that echoed remarks from the Kremlin.
“If they can do this to me, they can do this to anyone,” Trump said Friday, speaking from his namesake tower in New York on Friday. Thousands of miles away, Russian President Vladimir Putin was probably “rubbing his hands with glee,” said Fiona Hill, a former senior White House national security adviser to three U.S. presidents, including Trump.
Hill and other analysts say Trump’s attacks could be useful to Putin and other autocrats as they look to boost their standing among their own citizens, potentially sway the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
The attacks on the U.S. justice system from Trump and his allies are “perfect fodder” for another “major propaganda and influence operation,” Hill told The Associated Press, suggesting Russia could target swing voters in battleground states ahead of the November election.
For generations, U.S. presidential administrations have depicted America as a bastion of democracy, free speech and human rights and have encouraged other states to adopt those ideals. But Trump suggested the justice system is being used to persecute him — something that happens in some autocratic countries.
Trump sees himself as a “strongman ruler” and looks to Putin for inspiration, Hill said. His attacks encourage any nation — from those with a mild gripe to the openly hostile — to “have their moment to bring down the colossus,” Hill said.
“For Putin it must be perfect because it creates a mess that he can try to seek advantage from,” Hill said.

Whose attack on the US “Justice” System? AP scum projecting.
WOW. Talk about projection.
Kind of a silly article. I can’t even be bothered getting mad about it.
Am I the only person that sees Putin as a leader trying to control and protect his 12 time zone country with a population of about 135M? He turned Russia around and we are trying to portray him as one of the old communists? Russia is vast and has an overabundant wealth of resources. Who are the ones who want him gone the most? I see lots of outside speculators and tons of money to be made if they can remove Putin. Like it or not, Russia may not be #1, but it can come close. Putin is Russia’s Trump, and disliked for the same reasons, he wants to protect his nation and the people.(including the Russians stuck in the Ukraine Dumbas sp.?area.) When Democrats seek to control, you can bet it will get us in a war. AGAIN! They need an enemy for us to fear whether or not they are a real enemy. I see Trump and Putin across a table talking it out, more than any Democrat doing it, without being vindictive, and with a superiority complex. Sadly at 85 I can’t do $#!t anymore to change it.
Correction: Democrats’ abuse of the USA criminal justice system inspires autocrats like Putin.
The Associated Presstitutes? I hope you wore gloves and a face shield when you read their article, I always do.
A
P
ALL PROPAGANDA
The automatic “unfounded.” Like these guys are incapable of researching anything.
LMAO
what a back assward article, the truth is, Biden learned how to do this TO Trump FROM Putin
As if Putin needs help being an autocrat- get lost and try again.
If anyone is echoing remarks from the Kremlin it’s the Associated Press.
Protect Biden at all costs in play.
Deep State = FSB
He turned it around all right. In year 2000 it was a least drifting toward a country with Rule of Law. Since then Putin has cancelled everything to do with law, and turned it from a managed oligarchy into and outright kleptocracy, with himself as the First Kleptocrat.
You gotta give him credit, he's a charismatic dictator, but then so were Hitler and Stalin.
Stalin, by the way, is experiencing a rebirth in popularity, thanks to Putin Propaganda on the state TV networks. Alonf with Felix Dzerzhinsky, the Bolshevik founder of the dreaded Cheka, manager of the Red Terror, murderer of a million Cossacks.
No, Putin hasn't turned away from the policies of the Soviet Union. In fact he's deliberately making those days into a romantic battle of Russia vs. the Jews, Russia vs. the West, Russia vs. everybody.
"History is revised so often, it's impossible to know what happened yesterday" Old Soviet joke
wasn’t the LEFT just criticizing the USSC?
This sounds to me like they are reviving the “Trump is Putin’s BFF”, whicj is a sub-plot in one of the books on my nightstand. Published in, coincidentally, 2016. (Yes, I read the enemy literature as well. Know your enemy.) The theory goes that he managed a beauty contest in Moscow in 2013, and received payment for it, therefor he’s been bribed. Or something.
New York legal system is a corrupt system. DA Bragg and NY AG campaigned on “getting Trump.” The US Judicial system only works with people who have a moral character. New York is corrupt! The media in cahoots with the Democrat party have conspired to convict Trump in rigged trials. The media is providing continuous in kind donations to take out candidates that they do not approve of. Donald Trump is merely stating the fact that the system has been corrupted by the likes of Pseudo-Judge Merchan, AG Letitia James and DA Alvin Bragg. It’s up to the public now to carry out the exposing of these corrupt actors. Pseudo-Judge Merchan is bought and paid for by the Colombians. Merchan needs to be Meme’d to the point of total embarrassment. His name needs to become synonymous with the most vile of things.
After making Trump and innocent J6’ers political prisoners, the Biden regime had best avoid virtue signaling attacks on Putin.
AP. Bought and paid for leftist propaganda. Taxpayer funded PBS uses AP to source much of their news🤔🤬.
What Fiona Hill complains of is 100% on Bragg and Merchan.
