Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that Israel would not accept a ceasefire deal that prevented it from destroying Hamas, after U.S. President Joe Biden presented a so-called Israeli “proposal” that allowed Hamas to survive.

On Friday, Biden presented a proposal, which he claimed was made by Israel, for a ceasefire. The terms do not even mention Hamas, much less its disarmament, while they require Israel to withdraw and stop fighting.

I am not one of those who believes that the Israeli government has a God-given right over the territory. However, the actions of Hamas on 10/7 and the apparent acquiescence of the Arabs in the area combined with obstinacy regarding the hostages dead or alive tells me that Israel is within her rights to destroy Hamas. Will it solve the problem? No. A replacement for Hamas will rise. But it might make rational people think twice before committing such atrocities.

Israel would do well to further develop her own defense, she has the brain power. She will also have to figure out a way to decouple from the US and be more self-reliant. Democratic Republics make poor longterm allies if the other side has a political base in the republic. We are getting MORE Muslims and Arabs and Persians.
