Dershowitz to Newsmax: Trump Needs to Fire His Lawyers
Newsmax ^ | Mark Swanson

Posted on 05/30/2024 7:18:09 PM PDT by joesbucks

“I'm going to predict that the first thing Trump does is fire his lawyers, which he should have done before the trial rather than after the trial," Dershowitz said on "The Record With Greta Van Susteren."

His lawyers did not do a good job. And what worries me, as an appellate lawyer, is that they didn't do a good job preserving the record for appeal. They focused exclusively on the trial, which is what many trial lawyers erroneously do," Dershowitz said. "But you can't win an appeal if the lawyers below didn't create a record for appeal. And they didn't do that here, particularly the missing witness, the issue of, the failure to allow the expert witness to testify."

Back then, FR was a conservative site. It hadn’t yet morphed into its current form.

I’m not so sure. They overturned Weinstein’s case.

No sure...I thought Branch did a good job.

If Trump had God for an attorney, it wouldn't have mattered.

Is he right?

In a more perfect world but what we saw in 2020 is the upper tiers of legal counsel were intimidated into not representing him

For a brief moment, let’s imagine that you are right in your assertions.

What’s your conclusion?

I look forward to your answers.

Now, the brief moment is over.

There is probably some validity in what he says but he also has the benefit of hindsight AND he doesn’t seem to focus on what I think was the real problem - the bias and contempt of the judge. This judge was biased, he knew it and that’s why he didn’t allow it (the trial) to be videoed so that the public (and I guess higher courts) couldn’t see his demeanor.

No, he's not right. Jesus Christ could have testified in favor of Trump but the judge would not have allowed him in the court room and as for the jury, there is no way they would have found him innocent of any of the charges.

It's like blaming the coach of a little league team that loses to a college team. An impossible game for them to win.

I recall lots of criticism early on and often about the lawyers Trump picks.

Trump has made more than his fair share of poor personnel choices especially in the lawyer department (Ex. Powell Guiliani, etc) BUT, the fix was in here. It's more than obvious and someday, after all the "progressives have dies off, future Americans will look back at the day in shame. Dershowitz can second guess Trump's lawyers all he wants but there was no way in hell there was going to be anything other than a guilty verdict. The deep state, through the DA and judge mandated that.

This immoral obnoxious arrogant prick still think OJ was framed. That tells me all I need to know. And before OJ hired him, he said OJ was guilty. He’s all about money and fame. Among the 2 worse character flaws in a human.

The trial wasn’t televised because NY trial rules don’t allow it.

There are a number of threads here the responses have been mostly positive for Alan. We tend to elevate hero’s and disparage foes based on their last statement.

I didn’t realize that. They (NYS) are almost a complete outlier, then since nearly all other states allow for some level of public telecommunicated viewing/observation.

In looking at the cause it’s interesting why. Here’s the root cause I think. In the “Early Legislation” part of this linked study. Thanks.

Yeah, after OJ died, recently, Dershowitz went on Sean Hannity and maintained OJ was set up and it was a conspiracy by the LAPD.

How does anyone give that clown any credibility on anything?

In light of what has been happening the last 7 years, your comment is ridiculous.
