On Jan. 8, 2004, just more than 20 years ago, the first episode of The Apprentice aired. It was called “Meet the Billionaire,” and 18 million people watched. The episodes that followed climbed to roughly 20 million each week. A staggering 28 million viewers tuned in to watch the first season finale. The series won an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, and the Television Critics Association called it one of the best TV shows of the year, alongside The Sopranos and Arrested Development. The series—alongside its bawdy sibling, The Celebrity Apprentice—appeared on NBC in coveted prime-time slots for more than a decade.
The Apprentice was an instant success in another way too. It elevated Donald J. Trump from sleazy New York tabloid hustler to respectable household name. In the show, he appeared to demonstrate impeccable business instincts and unparalleled wealth, even though his businesses had barely survived multiple bankruptcies and faced yet another when he was cast. By carefully misleading viewers about Trump—his wealth, his stature, his character, and his intent—the competition reality show set about an American fraud that would balloon beyond its creators’ wildest imaginations.
I should know. I was one of four producers involved in the first two seasons. During that time, I signed an expansive nondisclosure agreement that promised a fine of $5 million and even jail time if I were to ever divulge what actually happened. It expired this year.

I guess the Dems did not like the gain in the black polls.
This will drip throughout the next couple of weeks until a tape is released right before the debate. They want to knock down Trump, and then replace Biden.
This is going to be a nasty summer.
And back then black people loved him. Even Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
I watched the apprentice. He’s a great motivator...
He was also a real estate developer, best selling author, casino mogul, problem solver (ice rink) long before “The Apprentice”.
~~~
And Biden was...
Senator and failed Presidential candidate
Senator and failed Presidential candidate
Senator and failed Presidential candidate
Senator and failed Presidential candidate
Senator and failed Presidential candidate
Dopey Vice President
Raconteur
Presidential propped up puppet who ran from his basement and ate ice cream for 4 years
I meant racketeer. LOL, damn autocorrect.
Although Joe could spin a good yarn about himself (even if they aren’t true).
Trump was also the best President since Reagan (not that either one was perfect)
I read every delicious word and I have never felt better. Trump has destroyed the Left, and the deep state, and we are witnessing their demise. Soooo satisfying 😌.
Perfect does not exist. Those who expect it, particularly in human beings, are foolish.
“It elevated Donald J. Trump from sleazy New York tabloid hustler to respectable household name. “
The sleazy hustler is the punk who wrote this
He brings in tabloid publications as being who reported on him exclusively, which is just another dishonest diversionary attack tactic. Employed to try and get the reader to think less of the target being honed in on.
Problem is, I got so bored that I never got to the so called "con" that Donald John Trump was supposed to have committed. It couldn't have been what he built his wealth upon, because I see what has been created under his leadership. It was real estate related for many years in the beginning, and then it became his brand as the press reported on him more and more.
As a result, I still do not know what the con supposedly was. The only con I saw was the author is trying to heap upon other people a the clown article of such boring overly lengthy piece renders it unreadable for the majority who deem their time too important to go any further.
I find that the reason for not laying out the con quickly is because they want to get in as many shots as possible before getting to the claimed con, which then fails to actually deliver. For the reader realizes the con is really more fertile imagination blowing up something to be more than it really is. That only works for those who have a bad image of Trump already.
It might take a few votes away from Trump, but those votes will not go to Biden, they might go to RFK Jr., but most likely they will fail to go anywhere, and the person stays at home which is probably what the person would have done anyway.
This will be the “October surprise,” maybe? Especially if there’s video or audio.
Yes, a nasty summer, and Fall.
This self-important punk is so full of himself.
Not everyone gets conned by so-called reality shows, least of all Trump supporters. If you believe a reality show is anything more than entertainment, then you are easily brainwashed, and last time I checked, it wasn’t Trump supporters who are easily brainwashed.
Sure, Donald Trump cashed in on lots of celebrity name-recognition in 2016 - but what won him the vast support of the American people was NOT some reality show - it was that he was willing to condemn the destruction of our southern border when no one else would.
Eight years later, the deep state is still trying to snuff him out but the issue remains the same: an American POTUS should put America First. What a novel idea! /S
And he’ll release the tape as soon as the AI voice generation professionals at the DNC get finished creating it....
The guys summary overlooks that Trump has already been President once, so the writer’s description might have passed in 2016, but it can’t in 2024, we know that Trump can, has, and will make bold and radical decisions, that he will make sweeping changes and will shake things up in a way that stirs the economy and unleashes our resources and talented energy, which is what we want.
It is a very weak piece and completely outdated and irrelevant.
The Great One was pretty close to perfect.
Probably the best communicator to VOTERS ever.
I consider Reagan to be the Moses of the Right.
He pointed the direction and Bush41 changed the road sign.
Yet another grifter cobbles together what he thinks is a sensational enough snark screed that he will be able to milk the election cycle. He sneers at Trump being too busy to take a deep personal interest in him at first sight, at Trump being taller than he had anticipated, at Trump eating some M&Ms. Bad Orange Man had an extremely successful television show that gave this person a belief that his mundane workaday observations are literary—or tabloid—gold.
If the show was such a success, then why did this loser exit he show after 2 years? Who does that?
